View Full Version : Favorite map?
What is your favorite map? Least favorite?
I really like Gulf of Oman (the map in the demo), and pretty much every other map I've played is okay....except for FuShe Pass - that map is horrible.

None have really blown my skirt up, although I have found Mashtuur City to be enjoyable if only because it is a fairly small map making for some great street fights. One memorable event happened when myself and antother chap got a pair of HUMVEES and sat at an intersection protecting the streets in front of us...and we had such a great field of fire that we controlled that area for about 5 minutes despite numerous attempts to knock us down.
My least favorite so far is Songhua Stalemate. It is just too dark and foggy, with too much water...that everything looks exactly the same. Probably why I prefer the desert maps too. I think they knew Gulf of Oman would be a hit, making it the demo for that reason.

Ah, thats another one that I love. The city street fighting is really intense...it may just be me, but I think the game engine really does well with urban combat.
There really haven't been any maps I truly hate yet. I think the reason is every map has good locations for fighting at the infantry level. I agree that the city fight situations are by far the most intense, although I absolutely hate being a commander on those levels.

I need to add Strike at Karkand to my favorites list. The first few minutes are fantastic as you try to defend against the attacking US armor. Trying to cross streets in the hot zone is a nightmare too...as APC shells (similar to tracers) whiz by along the length of the street.
I have to say that this game does work best in city environments (for me anyway) where the fighting is confusing and exciting and deadly all at the same time. It is also really hard to get organized into squads and I can only imagine how hard it would be to be a commander when the units are intermixed in hand to hand fighting.

Whichever map it is with the TV station, I've been commander on that one a few times, and it's not pleasant. Dropping artillery is extremely difficult since everyone is so up close (and in cover). Couple that with the fact most people on your team won't move from outside of it anyway (and will be sure to punish you for the TK that they basically caused).

I've been limited to single player but the TV station map and Strike at Karkand are my favorites. I prefer Infantry combat over Air or Tank, so those have the most worth to me.
