View Full Version : "The Steel Triad:" a CMAK - Multiplayer Event.
Ok Guys, this is the place we'll post any info, comments, ideas etc about the MP Tourney. :D
CMAK-MP Invitational Tournament of 6-12 players (long term). Will @ "follow" the 2NZ/7 UK AR vs 15/21 Pz units from 12/40 - 5/45, including actions in Greece & Crete (all semi-historical). One scenario will affect the following one. Players can form their own 3 man teams. Est start date 08/05.
However a team must be approved FIRST before any team is actually "IN" the event & I'll tell you why. Too many player MIA's and dropouts in other tournaments, which are an absolute pain & I want to avoid that like the plague. {I will inform any team not approved privately exactly why they are not.}
Of critical importance is the Team Commander who will be responsibile for his teams tactical mission & troop allocations. Plus he'll probably be the one doing turns for teammates on R&R. (We can expect slowdowns during holidays for sure)
Teams may pick which side, Allied or Axis, they want (hope) to play throughout the tourney which is fine as long as we get teams wanting to play the "other" side as well. Teams selecting Axis/Allied will be paired per match, teams selecting "either" will also be paired as needed.
Note: You MUST be a registered member of SZO to participate in this tournament.
Current teams:
NOTE- another team (the 10th) is welcome to form up & join!
Edit 7/12
Axis-
1. KG-Cloghaun/KG-JAG/KG-Panzerschreck
2. KG-Panther/KG-Thorshammer/KG-SSpoom

4. ANZ-Tripps/Gaz-NZ/Victor Charlie
Allied-

You need some NZers
OOOOsssshhhh - the boyz from Downunder, and ANZAC spirit, we can do the Haka and sing Waltzing Matilda at the same time, Southern Hemisphere v the Northern, ahhh what other cliches can i think up... :devious:

but hehe...
Its not the players, its the ANZAC biscuits!
Everyone is sorely lacking in this vital incredient, but, theres something suspicious about all those KG guys going Axis.... what if we wanna go Axis? then it will be a civil war, SS v Wehr or something :)
Alright ill play on Tripps team :D
The Allied side is loading up quickly, but we really need some Axis teams to form before we get 4+ Allied teams. :nervous:
If we get an even number of teams it will make playing & organizing that MUCH easier... ;)

I wish Victor Charlie would confirm he wants in, i'm basing all this on good old Aussie-Kiwi relations, notwithstanding the sporting rivalry and sheep jokes that fly across the ditch on a regular basis :)

Its too bad that real life issues are keeping several of our other members from taking part in this. If that wasnt the case, we could easily field at least one more axis team. :surprise:

Well, I'm not sure if this is a "real" question or not. :halo: If it is...
Do you mean switch your team to play Axis for the entire event or from round to round?
The replies that I received indicated that the teams wanted to play their side throughout the tourney, which is fine. Makes the bookkeeping easier as long as we have an even # of teams. I prefer this option if possibile.
I anticipate rotating teams to play a different team each round.
As far as switching sides between rounds, as long as all the teams agree.

2. KG-Panther/KG-Thorshammer/KG-SSpoom
3. **UN- Cougar-DK/BigMik1/The Purist
4. CA- Wehrwolf/2054172/Deadly 88
Allied-
1. UK- Boff/Full Monty/GunnerC
2. UK- Nig/Doodlebug/Antoni36
3. **ANZ-Tripps/Gaz-NZ/Victor Charlie
4.
**Will play Either- Cougar-DK, BigMik1, The Purist,
1. ANZ-Tripps/Gaz-NZ/Victor Charlie
2. UN-Cougar-DK/BigMik1/The Purist (a team?)

... us Canadians are all but forgotten until the sheeite hits the fan. Then everybody is a friend.
Actually, you should have structured your sentence thus:
"...'we' Canadians are all but forgotten until the situation becomes somewhat 'dodgy'. Then all seek our aid and succor."
:stop: No, no,...there is no need to thank me. Always ready to help out our colonial cousins on the other side of the pond.
Palantir what about the Canadian team. Wehrwolf ,2054172, and Deadly 88.
DOOF! :o
I had you in but forgot to list the team- must be that stealth team nobody can see...
The following teams have said they'd play either side but all are leaning to play the axis.
1. CA- Wehrwolf/2054172/Deadly 88
2. ANZ-Tripps/Gaz-NZ/Victor Charlie
3. UN- Cougar-DK/BigMik1/The Purist
We have another team on line but for the Axis only-
KG- KG Koz/KG Kharkov/KG AGCent.
Hmmm, I know that some of you are chewing at the bit to play the Itallians, but I'm wondering why the ANZ/CA guys (seriously) haven't jumped up to play the Allies since the entire campaign will feature two UK units 7AR Div & 2NZ (no USA units will be involved, nor French or Russian or Brazillian). :cheeky:
Anyway I want to be fair & give one more "chance" to the CA/ANZ teams to play on the allied side. If not I will flip the UN team (who all said they'd play either side to the Allied side).
Dear Purist. Well put sir, your attention to detail is second to none. :D If your game is as good as your grammar then this might be a challenging tournament. ;)
The biggest country wins,or the country with the most mountians, lakes ,rivers , puddles.etc. Gets the Axis. :nervous:
:cheeky: Ok guys this gets more interesting as we go along.
Another KG team wants in consisting of KG Koz/KG Kharkov/KG AGCent (I knew they were waiting for one confirmation). But they only want to play on the Axis side (hmmm wonder why?).
So this could be a KG/?? vs the "UK" tourney.
With that line up it might be tough for the "Desert Rats" to move the Africa Korps out of Africa! (Yes I know only the 7th AR were offically the D.R.'s but it sounded good! :p )
But that would require 1 of these 2 "**either teams/but want axis" to voluntarily move to defend the Empire.
1. **CA- Wehrwolf/2054172/Deadly 88
2. **ANZ-Tripps/Gaz-NZ/Victor Charlie
Since the "UN- Cougar-DK/BigMik1/The Purist" was an all individual "either" team I will move them to help out the Crown.
I know I could just move 1 of the "either teams" to the Allied team but would like you guys to be happy with it. So I'm hoping 1 will switch on their own. :halo:
Axis-
1. KG-Cloghaun/KG-JAG/KG-Panzerschreck
2. KG-Panther/KG-Thorshammer/KG-SSpoom
3. ? KG-Koz/KG-Kharkov/KG-AGCent
4.
CA- Wehrwolf/2054172/Deadly 88
ANZ-Tripps/Gaz-NZ/Victor Charlie
Allied-
1. UK- Boff/Full Monty/GunnerC
2. UK- Nig/Doodlebug/Antoni36
3. UN- Cougar-DK/BigMik1/The Purist
4.
Either way the number of teams (for now) is closed.
I'm afraid with the increased size from the expected 4 to 8 teams may decrease the detail I wanted to go into with each match. (I may just have to leave it up to the team skills...)

Trying to form a team with ThinWhiteLine. Can you give us a couple of days to contact some of the potential players?
Anybody interested in joining up?
We may not be the best, but we certainly have a good sense of humour! :D (Actually, TWL is pretty darn good).
We'll play any side... :horse:
You can certainly form a team but at this point it may not be in. Not to mention we do need even numbers of teams.
They will go on standby.
Palantir,
We have in fact formed a new team composed of ThinWhiteLine, Bruce, and myself (JoeBob).
If another team of 3 players forms, will we then be able to play the tourney with 5 teams/side?
Guess I should check the forums more often! :o
Kerry I saw that we will be starting in Greece during 12/40. However no German infantry or armor shows up in the game until 3/41. Am I correct in assuming that your considerable scenario creation skills will be employed to solve this problem?
Yea, I noticed that, its a miss "date/location" by me.
We'll be starting in NA then moving to Greece & Crete then back to NA then to Italy.
Although Crete is giving me problems on the number of formations/units each player will be controlling. It might be a very small "tactical" encounter to say the least.
We won't be recreating the "big" battles as they have been done before. But the "what if's" & "could haves" should be entertaining.

WHAT??? No Italians versus Greeks?? :surprise: My Gawd but this must be an oversight!!! Surely the axis commanders would jump at the chance to command Rome's finest troops in her quest to rebuilt that which once was!
I know that if I were an axis commander I would insist on an Italian command. :smoke: In fact I think I would demand an Italian command. Just think of the glory to be found in breaking through the Greek positions and pushing on to Athens. HAH!! What's all this nonsense about German troops in the Balkans and Africa? What rubbish.
If the 1940 French were available for the Allies, it might approach being a fair match.

If the 1940 French were available for the Allies, it might approach being a fair match.
Actually, the French handled the Italians very roughly in the mountains when Italy attacked in June 1940. I think your Germans would find the French a tough fight were they available and I for one would gladly use them in any QB or scenario. German armour in 1940 was technically pretty weak in comparison to the French and it would be a challenge for a Mk IIIF or Mk IVC to take on an R-39 or S-35.
Maybe with CM2.
Despite the French having better tanks, although poorly deployed, they lost their entire country in only six weeks!
With regard to a comparison with the Italians, you may have missed both the word "approach" and my tongue in my cheek.

No worries, Jag. I for one have a lot of fun playing against and with the Italians in CMAK and CMBB. Anytime I hear someone slamming the French over the events of 1940 I pretty much dismiss it out of hand. Uninformed opinion and old myths are alive and well even here on the forums.
BTW, I'm not suggesting you fall into this category. ;)

Some "TST" info for you all to chew on. :D
Curious about what the Rd1 map SORT of looks like and wondering about it's possibile size & if your PC can handle it?
Check out the Operation Scenario "Sidi Nsir" and run a few hotseat turns as a test...:whist:
Don't say you haven't been warned!
Due to the number of teams 8-10 (up from the 2-4 I thought would be in it) the level of "moderation" will be greatly reduced from what I had planned on initially. :OHNO:
There will be NO break in between the rounds for adjustments & unit modifications.
Instead it will be as follows: Rounds comprising of Part A & Part B (with NO PAUSE) and turns will be "set" at 90. :surprise: (sort of how an operational scenario works) Watch those "useless" firefights = ammo drain.
The new "interesting" part is (drum roll please) you will NOT be told INITALLY how long each Part will last, nor what turn Rd 1 ends!! :crosseye:
Could be 10/20/30/40+ turns per. Part A could be 20 turns long & Part B could run 40.
You'll get roughly a 10 turn notiification before the Round ends: then all military efforts & priorities switch to another more critical sector.
Strategic Mission: You're simply be ordered to: "take that town etc ASAP." How it's done tactically is up to each team. Remember there will be no flags and victory / defeat will rest on how "well" each side accomplishes it's Operational Orders.
When "Part A" ends (whenever it is) the High Command (me) will look over your situation by Aerial Recon  & based on how well your team has accomplished it's goal(s) your team may get new Operational Orders on the fly = "Part B." (note- there are predetermined "accomplishments" I will go by etc)
New operational orders could be like:
1. Continue with current orders advance/defend/etc.
2. Continue but switch to new "objectives."
3. Completely switch orders: if on offensive go on defensive and defend... etc.
Also, Strategic Reinforcements are withheld/released based solely on each teams unique situation. Some teams may never get them, some may need "all" of them.
Curiously enough the ending of Part A will not be the same turn for bothsides...
So- if your team has been attacking (you think the enemy is on the defensive?) & suddenly you're told to start defending you won't know if the enemy has been defending all this time or (be prepared for)... maybe they have been maneuvering instead all of "Part A" sucking you in to set up a counter-attack / trap & they don't need new orders for Part B. :devious:
There will be "Exit Zones" showing for each side, so you won't know if that's part of the enemys opeartional mission or not. Your orders "stop the enemy from exiting the map!" Sorry & too bad- the enemy's orders have nothing to do with exiting anybody, it's eliminating you! :p
Each games "action" will be determined by each team and few should be or feel the same. Hopefully the the MP games will turn out to be YOUR games.
BTW- as you can probably tell, by it's very nature Round 1 will most definitely be a design in progress, I hope it will at least be fun.
It also might be a real bit** but then, even some of "those" are exciting to play with!

Sounds like real life combat situations; a very nice format :D
More stuff for you all.
1. First off to remind everyone of the duration of TST- it will take years to complete. Trying to get 6 players (in order) to do a turn a week minimum is a tough process, at 30 to 60+ turns a round and @10 rds thats how long? This is designed for fun/excitment and not the real gaining of ladder points. (How any of those are going to be determined for TST has not been figured out yet.)
2. I'm thinking of creating a sub-forum for TST.
In it will be a General/Axis/Allied thread.
Questions- Do we need 3 threads? Do we need the Ax/Al to be passworded? How much do you think you will need to "talk" as a team in the forum? I suspect most will be done between each team via emails. (Note: having teamspeak2 works great for this type of game)
3. Still missing team commanders & desired emails for some teams.

And mayby most important, you (Palantir) can follow the games closely and mayby react if something goes wrong...?!?!?

I'll step up as the Fearless Leader for Axis team #3.
For those curious about our status as a secret cult, I would simply direct you to those members of FGM who so unhappily strayed into our cross-hairs recently. One could decribe the experience as... painful. Any way you slice it, capturing a full, regular/vet russian guards infantry company in one fell swoop is certainly noteworthy. Scoring decisive victories in 3 games and barely allowing a tie in a fourth is also nothing to sneeze at.
Membership in KG is not for the smaktard, punk, dullard, facist or communist. Anyone else may feel free to apply but trial membership (recruit status) is granted only after a review of the aspirant's application followed by an explicit invitation.
The "High Command" has pin-pointed the area of your operations: somewhere between Buq Buq & Nibeiwa. :devious:
A very nice air recon "photo" of the area is now being processed by the intel chaps and will soon be sent to the team commanders for their mission planing. Note- Dust in the air is obscuring some features which may mean they will not look the exact same when the troops on the ground get there. :whist:
High command is finalizing what formations will be availibile for "this" early morning mission.

Pre-Pre-game information is being sent out to concerned Team Commanders. (If you haven't received anything let me know.)
Due to the way CM works I've had to change :( the way I wanted it to go.
The relatively few formations & units at this time period is not allowing (in my opinion) the full fun & challenge of the "pre-game" excitement as will later scenarios.

CRITICAL INFO for all TST players: :OHNO:
Rd 1 is looking good so far, however-
I just did my inital "scenario's" list for both "Cost of Glory" & "The Steel Triad" events.
For COG it's 20 scenarios or about 5 years of gaming. :surprise:
For TST about the same, thats :hmmm: at 1 year minimum per TST round that's  carry over the 3, multipliy by 2... :blab::scream:
This may be a bit more involved than I thought.
Obviously my idea of following a war timeline covering the "interesting" events in detail was OVER ambitious. Which means some curtailing is required.
We have pleanty of time to determine what is what (like almost a year  ) but it seems certain that events like Greece & Crete will be dropped. I already had some good plans for these minor but interesting actions (mostly INF actions), but in reality they are not "North African" battles which is what most of you want to experience on a grand scale.
I will also probably drop following the timeline idea and instead do areas:
NA west (early & late) / central / east & Italy south / central / north.
The first round will be NA West- early. We'll still follow the same German/UK units in the matches.
I'll just design the Greece & Crete actions as stand alone scenarios on a smaller scale. I'd hate to waste some good ideas & research. Hmmm, now I think of it I could just flip those babies into the COG tournament... :D
Anyway, with the length of MP games & the scale I (we) should probably focus on the "big" hot & heavy stuff and not the interesting but not as wildly exciting actions.
I'm sure some of you would like to recreate some of the INF actions and others the big armor engagements, nothing is wrong with either type. So we may be doing both in the next rounds instead of concentrating on one or the other.
I think the opening round/conflict (DEC 1940) of NA will be fun as the equipment on hand was more or less balanced. The only differences of later rounds will be bigger guns & armor.
BTW- these will be designed & formated for challenging fun not a: {Wow those 30 Tigers sure mopped up all those M3's from 2000m just like in real life!} I'm betting such a setting would not be fun for 1/2 of the players for those 12 long months.
:sigh1:
Your not fooling anyone in the Nazis uniform. You still look like a Kiwi in a Nazis monkey suit. :bounce: Line up the Traitors... thank Purest got to double check more often. Though I believe he also trades in kiwi fruit. :toast:
Looks like I forgot to add a few lines yesterday:
The rounds will now be less historical & less what if's and instead be more of a blending of several historical actions crammed into one big map.
Instead of having one round being an attack on a big fortified town (say Tobruk) and another round of an armor engagement in the middle of nowhere we might have a massive armor engagement to take a fortified town in the middle of nowhere!
Actually I'm very depressed and apologize after I saw the real time it would take to do what I had originally planned for you guys in TST. It really screwed up the "little details" I had planned for each round.
But hopefully the compressing of several actions into one round will increase the excitment factor for everyone before we all get old & forget what CM is.
Cheer up, you're the reason we're here.. :D
And as for getting old and forgetting what CM is, all I can say is that I will always find time for Colossal Mammaries..

I'm trying to work out all the team option combinations.
However, I'm having a small setback in my medical condition, please bare with me if I'm delayed "slightly" in getting this one started.
EDIT- I'm having up & down days so when I'm "up" I'll be doing my best to get everything together for this to start. It's turned out to be a complicated affair getting everything to "mesh" and run smoothly.
I haven't forgotten you!
Info/map/unit purchases to the Team Commanders should be coming out in 1-3 days.
I'm feeling so-so but the game is looking better. The files should be heading out to the Team Commanders on Saturday. :halo:
It WILL BE CONFUSING, I've accepted that fact so everyone just get ready for some complexing information. :( Feel free to email me with questions- no problem. :D
Just remember one point- all you are doing officially is looking over the map & then purchasing your teams units & thats it.
Just read the information provided & don't worry about any settings etc.
I will be re-buying all teams units and putting them (modifying/adjusting them) in a different file with the correct opposing teams units. This file will then be locked and set back to you as a normal tournament file for you to do your unit setups.
Yep, it's that simple.! :crosseye:
This round will be much different than the next ones, as the units availibile to purchase are very limited. But as a first go at this MP stuff it should still be interesting.
I just realized- I've forgotten to post the team matchups! :o
So here they are. :D (All randomly determined long ago actually...) :halo:
KG-Panther/KG-Thorshammer/KG-SSpoom
vs CA- Wehrwolf/2054172/Deadly 88
ANZ-Tripps/Gaz-NZ/Victor Charlie
vs UN- The Purist /Cougar-DK/BigMik1
KG-AGCent /KG-Koz/KG-Kharkov
vs UK- Boff/Full Monty/GunnerC
KG-Cloghaun/KG-JAG/KG-Panzerschreck
vs UK- Nig/Doodlebug/Antoni36
How does that grab you? :hmmm:
Time to place those bets...

will all the axis teams get to play all the allied teams and vice versa at some point in the tourney? oor is it just whoever makes it to the next round plays? :hmmm:
You should know my philosophy for playing in tourneys by now: ;)
Why setup a tourney & have players look forward to playing in it only to "by chance lose" & play in only 1 round? :(
I believe these they should be setup so players can play in all the rounds and enjoy the game they want to play against others of like mind & interests. :D
So, all teams will play in all rounds vs all other opposing teams (AX vs AL). And then somehow based on some points/victory/success a winning team from bothsides will be determined.
Not aware of your medical condition. If ther is anything / info I can help with let me know. At times I feel that the medical profession treats us like lab rats. I feel the total cure, rests in knowledge. Some times finding out little bits of onfo here and there, helps.

Thanks for the concern guys, basically my body has turned on my liver (the fact that I don't drink has added to that concern) & has been trying to kill it for the last 7 months, my condition was getting better but has now taken a down turn... :nervous:

The UN Team, fighting alongside the Empire troops, has send its OoB to you, Palantir. I wouldn't worry too much about the limited units. If this game series covered the early war in Europe you would find a derth of units in every army. IMO, the fewer units the better, no need to choose between an M11/39 and an M11/39,...just choose the M11/39
It's a perfectly fine tank,...sort of a proto-Grant. :D And the L3/35,...brilliant concept, a low cost assault gun. Brilliant. No wonder the Germans copied the idea for their StuGs :whist:

Due to personal matters our Canadian Team has had to withdrawal from the event.
That means our first standby team is next in the chute- if they are still together?

Team 9. ThinWhiteLine/Bruce/JoeBob
Team 10. John Osborne/airBiscuit/?? (was a third found?)
ThinWhiteLine- is your team ready?
John?
Just in case is anyone else interested in getting in line?

At the risk of sounding like a complainer or one looking for sympathy, of which im neither, the KG_Jag/KG_Cloghaun/KG_Panzerschreck team is a little behind schedule. the reason is my fault due to the fact that my fiance had to have emegency surgery to have her Gall Bladder removed and then on the day she came home from the hospital my nephew was in a bad 4 wheeler wreck where he lost like 40% of skin from his upper body and had a severe head trauma. thank God both are healing nicely but thats the reason for the delay. also while all of this has been going on my niece is home from the army and a year and a half tour in Korea and on sunday she leaves for a year and a half in Iraq. she also got married this morning. so to say the least i have had a full week. hopefully by sunday evening we should have our file out.

How about we have Bruce be the Commander and pick his two subordinates? It will be hard for the 4 of us to work this out by drawing straws or beauty contest, so we might as well have one person make a decision.
Bruce?
If there is no one else for first dibs count me in. As for the beauty contest I would win hands down. :)
I believe Bruce & JoeBob are contacting the third member- whoever that is.
But we need to get this team up & running quickly.
However we saw how quickly the 2 standby teams "collapsed" so if a new standby team can be formed you never know when it will be called upon to step in and fight the next battle.
Sorry for the delay in JoeBob and I replying - we seem to have lost our comander and are running around like headless chickens. We're both still keen to play and will contact our third player before the end of the weekend - JoeBob is in California and I'm in Scotland, so we have a significant lag in our communications!
Thanks for your patience! :bounce:
Best to you all, from the Great White North. :whist:
We've finally sorted ourselves out and formed a team.
The members are Bruce, JoeBob and Airbiscuit. I've been elected team leader by universal acclamation - 'Who wants to be leader', 'Ehhm', 'Well', 'I'll do it nobody else wants to', 'HAIL mighty leader!'.
Now we've chosen our team, there is nothing to stop us winning this thing!
Working on how to proceed with integrating the new team.
"Probably" just have them step in & take over "Team CA's" current position as it would be the easiest option here. The limited unit selection in 12/40 is the main reason and "Team CA's" selections were solid.

I was looking over the pre-game information and got worried that not all of the chosen forces might be available (for both sides) on turn 1; some entering as reinforcements.
This kind of screws up pre-game plans a bit, since a unit that had been planned to be the apex of an attack (or defence) could end up not turning up till half-way throught the game.
It would be nice if, in future games, we could specify an order of march - things could still be delayed, but they'd at least arrive in an order that matched the plans. This would be realistic too - I can't imagine all the units in a command racing each other through the desert like something out of wacky races. :crosseye:
It's OK that strategic reserves should be unpredictable, but units in the team's command should be under some sort of control.

I'd be a little worried if your apex consisted of one unit/platoon tho! :)

I agree with that, a order of march would be nice - but in this game our 'choices' at the start, and our opponants, i think had some part to play in regards to which units didnt make it (if any)
Order of march would not have much bearing in regards to which units were lost for example in an airstrike on your way to the map.
(Yes i'm aware you potentially protect the more vital elements with mobile AA etc)
Or if you left late, a lot of the Infantry dont start as they are still walking up, and other random factors (tanks breaking down, stuck in sand etc etc)
It's OK that strategic reserves should be unpredictable, but units in the team's command should be under some sort of control.
The flip side being they could be subject to more interference as well?
I understood there was a real possibility units would not be showing up, so the :hail: ANZAC's :hail: took this into account upon selection, thus covering our bases :)
This kind of screws up pre-game plans a bit, since a unit that had been planned to be the apex of an attack (or defence) could end up not turning up till half-way throught the game.
Well maybe that "apex" unit ran into a dead-end gully or got started late or got stuck in soft sand or had to scattered due to an AS or turned left when it should have turned right or just got lost? There were a number of random "strategic" factors that went into the options and what happened to each team / game.
It would be nice if, in future games, we could specify an order of march - things could still be delayed, but they'd at least arrive in an order that matched the plans. That might be possibile, but if you state that you want to (must?) enter in "THIS" order and the lead unit is delayed 15 minutes do you really want to give the other team 15 "free" minutes on the map? I'm sure that enemy scouts / air recon would quickly pick up on the "distance/time" away from the map that they are. :devious:
Then again, it will be hard to select an exact MO, since to be fair all three players on a team should have units on the map at the start.
But it's another idea that I can start playing with for Rd 2. Thanks!
BTW- Whats the status with the 4 games?
Are any games past the setup phase?
Any allied teams still waiting for their setup turn?
Remember to post or email me with any other comments or suggestions. If we can improve & make the next round better lets do it! :)
ANZAC's emailed their setup a couple days ago or so, so we waiting - but The Purist has gone away for a few days, so I think we have to wait until he comes back unless his boys do his setup :)
Its all rather pointless really, they should just ask to ceasefire now and save the agony that awaits them :smoke:
Because of numerous unexpected real life issues, one of my teammates is behind our hoped for schedule. We should be able to get the file out by the end of the work week. However, since Nig is vacationing in central Europethis week, the actual impact of the delay should be minimal.

We are putting ther finishing touches on our Deployment and ought to have the file away by the weekend if all holds up.
I'm not too bothered about the odd platoon arriving out of order (there could have been a breakdown), but a whole company, or even battalion?
As an example of the problem I forsee, imagine the team expects to have three companies of tanks arriving. In the initial orders each company is assigned an objective that will take a full company to achieve. If reinforcements are delayed randomly it is conceivable that instead of the three companies, just a single platoon of each arrives (I'm stretching plausibility for the sake of the example!). This is enough to make a company equivalent and could perhaps be moved towards one of the objectives, but then what is the purpose of the pre-game plans? Alternatively, the three platoons could just sit and wait for the remainder of their companies to show up.
If an order of march allows the teams to select the order they want their troops to appear in, then six platoons could still be delayed, but the three that arrive would belong to the same company and could head out to achieve at least part of the pre-game plan.
In the days before computer games (yes, I really am that old) I used to wargame with Napoleonic toy soldiers. Our club set up several campaigns, and sorting out the order of march was always a source of great discussion - it really does affect how the resulting battle plays out.
Please don't think I'm grousing or otherwise complaining - when I played Napoleonic campaigns there were half a dozen people involved in running the things - poor old Palantir is running several games on his tod. I have nothing but respect for him, and the others in this club who show such a selfless commitment to our hobby, and to enabling other players to have such a fun time.
