View Full Version : East Front 2 Patch Problem
Hi All,
I have been away from the CS games for awhile, bought a new PC running XP. I installed EF2 (gold) and it works but....now am looking for the patch. I had 1.08 on my old PC but it will not run because it says there is a file that has same name but different contents. Now I can't find where I got the patch on the net.
Can you help? Thanks
Hi
Don't think you need a patch with any gold version. It's the latest there is. I'm running gold, am unpatched, and have no compatibility issues in about 15 running games, and I know not all of those guys are running gold(though they are patched).
Thanks. I'm not even sure where the 1.08 patch came from....just some old file on the old PC.
I see there is a new v1.02US in the sticky Windows XP thread but it doesn't seem to work either.
Can you tell me about the Blitz' Project Blitzkrieg #1? Is that a mod?
I just want to make sure I have the latest and greatest and am somewhat confused. It must be the triple digit heat!

Hello,
Did you see the post right above yours (the second sticky in the campaign forum)? It should answer all your questions, but if not, I'm sure it will be updated to answer yours specifically.
Yes, I did. Thats where I found v1.02. But it will not run. Get error "cannot extract file 20Guardslcg.something". If I do not have the PB1 do I need to patch at all? What is the v1.02 for?
The Project Blitzkrieg disc is a bunch of new EF2 scenarios- not a mod. Some new units I believe too. I don't have it yet- but it comes highly reccomended. There are others in the works too from what I hear.
The Gold versions are the latest and greatest for the standard CS games.
Ahhh...triple digit heat! I just moved from Arkansas 3 months ago to NY state...My backside was still smoking from southern spring when I got here! I'm liking thr 65 F out there today ;) Though 13 years in Arkansas did make me pretty tough for the "heat wave' that came through here last week...we got all the way to 90F! Heavens to mergetroid! They were dropping like flies, and I could only laugh! And than cringe a little when I think of the coming winter...LOL
Let me know if you'd like to do any PBEM.

Good day..
First things first. The 1.08 patch is for the original East Front disc only. It will not work with East Front II.
Since you're running the Gold version of East Front II, the 1.02 patch will not work as Gold is already 1.03. You can patch forwards, not backwards.
The Project Blitzkrieg #1 is an expansion CD for East Front II. It will work with both versions: 1.02 and 1.03. It adds new scenarios, new order of battle information and new units.
You can find information about it here:
http://www.theblitz.org/member_sites/project_blitz_sneak/index_1.php
There is also a Project Blitzkrieg #2 (PB#2) and a Project Blitzkrieg #3 (PB#3) in the works. PB#2 is an additional East Front II disc while PB#3 is for West Front.
Hope this helps
Take care and good luck

Thanks Abatis and Jason. No patch needed, I'm guessing that is true for WF and RS too (gold editions that is).
I will have to check out the PB discs, sounds interesting. It really is a shame that the code is not made public for the grognard community. Does Talonsoft still own the rights? I guess TOAW is in the same boat?
Abatis, I am up for a PBEM game. Its been awhile since I have played but eager for a refresher. Send me a turn at mkqest@yahoo.com. Any side, any scenario, any game (EF,WF,RS).

Precisely!

Take2, who bought out Talonsoft, owns the rights to the Campaign Series and, I believe, TOAW. They don't appear to be willing to relinquish these rights without a substantial monetary gain.
Regardless, The Blitzkrieg Wargame Club has legal authorization from Take2 to produce and sell the Project Blitzkrieg series of expansions.
Hope that helps.

EF 2 Point of the Dagger...I took Axis...Blitz stats say the Axis manages to win this one 35% of the time...its a short, small scenario too...hopefully we can break you back in easy!

I actually emailed Take2 to get some preliminary info. I got an email back giving me the email addresses of two other people. Neither of them responded. I don't get it really, since as time goes by, how much could these old software programs be worth to them? Oh well.
