Just wondering - Is the dataview working now?? - Meaning can I adjust the default nation's values? - Can I create new units (not tweak their ratings....but simply create new custom units to be put in play) -

Can one create a new scenario?

Thanks for the update -

My understanding is no unit information can be added or modified. I have played around with the nation information and added a couple of test nations and they worked fine.

To me this is the most disappointing aspect of the sim. It follows HPS's long standing tradition of not supporting modding by their customers. What modding has happened it has seemed to come about by accident. I was one of the first purchased owners of POA2 and was EXTREMELY dissapointed and vocal about the patch that locked the dataview utility and, as you can tell, it is still a sore point for me.

I understand one can not adjust the actual ratings given to specific weapon systems (and also agree that this hurts!) -

But one can adjust the "ratings" or "performance ratings" of given units within a scenario - (meaning how each unit within the game is rated between 0-100 in a number of fields....you can adjust / tweak these for given units within a game).

My question is are these functions working yet? (they weren't early on....or when you did adjust them they caused CTD during created scenarios).

Glad to hear that adding new nations is working - I think I am going to reinstall POA2 now -

Would be interested in hearing if others have adjusted the "performace ratings" given to individual units within a game...and how that has worked.

I never adjusted settings for individual units ir building them outside the scenario builder. I'll try it.

I've also noticed updates are getting fewer an farther bewteen.

I initially was going to pass up commenting in this thread, for fear of sounding too negative, but with my experiences involving the latest build, I thought I might save a few souls some money.

I can't remark on the canned scenarios, not having bothered with them in the last build, but I have tried creating scenarios on the fly, and that feature is still rife with problems. I still get a lot of C++ errors, although no more CTD's. I find a number of things initially pointed out many, many months ago in the spate of "emergency beta testing" (of which I was a part), to still not be fixed. A lot of in-game behaviour I've seen can only be described as bizarre. If anybody really wants to hear the nitty-gritty, feel free to email me.

I wouldn't recommend anyone spend their money on this game just yet. Maybe it'll be fixed one day, but today isn't that day...I wanted this game to work as much as anyone, when it first was released, and I know Scott has had a hard time trying to fix it.

I don't know what it is, whether it's the pressure to get product out the door due to competition, or what, but the last few titles I've purchased (other devs, not necessarily HPS), have come out with some pretty glaring errors, some that make you wonder if the games were even tested at all prior to release. I'm not too nitpicky either, compared to some gamers. Sometimes I get the feeling that the developers are banking on lessened customer expectations (With wargamers? Don't count on it!), or that whatever is wrong will be fixed by the "modding" communities that invariably spring up around the titles that can be modded. And for those that say,"Well, Game X was patched 22 times over the course of three years and now it's fine," OK, but don't you feel like you just bought a car with only three wheels in the meantime?

HUB - Thanks for the post - I don't want to go through the whole reinstall and designing of new sceanrio's only to find out it doesn't work still! -

Thanks -

And I agree, way to many games come out anymore in simple BETA form -

Scott has done a pretty good job with trying to make POA2 better (but then again, that is his job, and we paid for a non-working product).

Don't even get me started on other companines like UBI!!

Yeah, UbiSoft was uppermost in my mind when I wrote the post above...

I guessed UBI almost instantly... my frustrations with SH3 are becoming legendary.
Poa2 will probably plow along until another project dictates time and manpower go to it. Just a guess.
