simhq relayed announcement from EA that Battlefield 2 has gone gold.
As much as I rag on the details of Battlefield 1942 I have to admit the game is certainly FUN!

Yeah, I can't wait for this game....I'm such a sucker I'll probably get it the first day its out (funds providing). I love the BF series.
Ugh. Looks like I need to step up my poker winnings a little bit more so I can afford this. :)
Just preordered it...got a decent logitech headphone/microphone combo headset for free too.
I've been playing the BF series ever since codename eagle..LOL. Each one tends to get better (forgiving BFV for it's numerous faults). The games themselves are good foundations for4 many mods out there. I will readily admit I bought BFV just to play the point of existence mod (modern US/RU equipment). I htink this one is a solid candidate for FPS of the year.

Bah, BF:V was way better than BF42. Not so much looking at the actual gameplay as just engine stability - they fixed (and streamlined) a lot of stuff up.

The netcode in BFV was and still is horrible. Although a beautiful game, I've had problems with it on a 16 player lan. That was one of the major issues addressed with BF2. Another problem is that EA tends to understate the minimum system requirements. Take a look at what they say are the miinimums, the game will run horribly on that system. Once they patched it and did some balancing it did fare a bit better. IMHO, one of the things that made BFV a success was the mods for it. Have you looked at Point of Existence? The models and skins are beautiful, maps are as good as any EA/Dice product, and some of the things they've done with the engine (ammo switching on tanks & IFVs) is amazing.
I am going to pluck down some cash on this one for pre-order at EB Games. I have read it's going to be a good one.

At least on my computer, BF:V runs three times as smooth as BF42, and loads three times faster. I never had a lot of problem with the netcode, at least it was never laggier than it was in BF42 for me. *shrugs*
Pre-ordered it and got a nice gift, the headset. Getting ready to rumble!!
