View Full Version : Human wave and Swer movement
Hi - does anybody know if it is possible to convert the RS attributes of Banzai and cave movment into EF for human wave attacks and sewer movement? It probably isn't, or it would already be done. Just wondering..
Also- Scorched Earth- I just resent our Yokrahama turn to you- not sure why we're having difficulties now when we were having such flawless turn exchange before- but please bear with me- it's not me, its a digital malady of some sort. I'm very much into the scenario still!

Ah- the ol' re coding problem. I figured it had to be something like that. Or it would have been done already.

...you will have to use Rising Sun as the game engine.
You can use the Russians in Rising Sun slot 00 is Russia.
You can take the RSFE Russians in the Blitz clubs mods and insert it without the modified rsedit and rsorg files.
The Germans and other EF country slot inhabitants will take some work.
You would have to copy all the platoon weapon factors in the EF weapon.pdt into the RS weapon.pdt and encrypt it for RS. Also encrypt the other platoon.oobs for RS. Then paste all the bmp, bit and oob files into RS.
Terrain files for EF could be put in place of the RS temperate terrain files I beleive.
I dont know how the Banzai charge works. Japanese Foot Commanders have a special carry tow code 1027. I am guessing that is what may make them have their special Banzai properties.
I would guess that if that is so perhaps coding a set of special Russian foot officers that way would have the same effect. Maybe not. You will have to play with that and find out.
Frankly I dont think the Russians had any banzai properties, they just kept comming because they were indoctrinated or patriots and not least because the NKVD units were behind them shooting anyone who was headed the wrong way.
Anyhow I think its doable. JUst will take some work.
Wow Asiaticus- that's pretty cool! A guy over at the Blitz said the same thing pretty much. Only problem I see is- its not a widespread practice. I imagine all of my pbem games would be wonky, and I pretty much don't play the AI, except out of desperation occasionally while I'm waiting on a pbem turn to come in(playing the AI -to me-is like sex with a condom!)
That it CAN be done though- that's great! Sewer movement in industrial battles would be great IMHO, and though Russian human wave attacks weren't born of Bushido- they still resulted in masses of men charging pell mell into heavy fire, regardless of the casualties-and could be simulated well handled like "Banzai"...too bad we couldn't have units go berzerk too- but that would take the platoon being able to split up(would seem odd for a whole pltn. to go berzerk all at once-probably happened though at times!)If a morale check is passed by so many points- a squad peels off from the parent platoon, and their morale rating goes to the highest value it can for the duration...aghhh dreams! And now for the reality of work and taxes! I'm off,
All the best!

They are one in the same gentlemen! *smiles*
Of course, in case you missed the subtlies of his post, it requires that you use the Rising Sun engine. Meaning you have to essentially make a new game within Rising Sun that depicts the Eastern Front.
Take care and good luck

Yeah..I think that increases the pain in the butt factor enough not to do it; mainly because it would screw up other games, and make compatibility issues in the future. It is pretty neat that it could be done just the same.
All the best
