Curt Chambers' definitive Vietnam War scenario, Campaign for South Vietnam has become TDG's new featured scenario (yeah, I know it's been a long time since the last one, quit complaining). It is now freely available for download here:

Enjoy!

It's 13.32 pm now and I'm in work but if anyone fancies a game I'm certainly interested!

Will download it tonight and can have turn done tomorrow Saturday.

Will play either side.

One Condition: Need a committed opponent who can put in minimum one or two turns PW + will stay to the finish.

Sounds good. Which side do you want? I prefer the NLF but I do have a couple of ideas that might give me victory as the allies.

Ugh, I'm outted. :whist:

FYI to all, I have played and finished 2 games of CSV as the NLF. But the NLF setup has changed quite a bit with Curt's latest version (3.0). But I have played several versions of CSV in the last two years.

But in RL 1965, the Viet Minh/NLF fought and defeated the French in 1954, while the USA hasn't fought a guerrilla war since the early 1900s. So playing against my "veteran" NLF should give a novice allied player a true feeling of "the way it was". :crosseye:  ... I feel woozy!

Of course, I know several "tricks" but in both completed playtests I never took Saigon. (Got close once...) :dead:

Curt mentions in his briefing that the players can agree to make possession of Saigon the only victory condition. That's the way I look at it. If the NLF takes Saigon BY TURN #125 they win, if not they lose.

Well I'd recommend avoiding such a narrow victory condition. I don't imagine the Communists would have minded waiting a few months more to take Saigon, after all they had waited thirty or more years already.

Hehe, Wolfe Tone has been into the insurgency business before, I seem to recall his Commies entering Saigon after a few weeks of conflict once... :)
The US losing Saigon early would hardly have meant they pack up and leave? After 125 turns, ok... hardly a sudden death...

Historically that's true, after all you have the example of Hanoi before to prove just that, they waited as long as they needed...

Yes that was a good move by me but I don't intend for that to happen when I play the Allies! :cheeky:

Ah, intentions, the girl said, when returning home to mother... :)

No more narrow minded then LBJ .

Alot of gamers play with the object to "beat" the RL outcome. In RL, Saigon fell to the NLF in CSV on Turn #125. I'm just saying that if I don't take Saigon by turn #125, then victory goes to the Allied player. I'll still play to the bloody finish (turn 132?).

Since I had some minute experience playing the NLF in CSV, and had earlier attempted to alleviate any potential Allied player's misgivings with said knowledge by using a contorted explanation invoking the Viet Minh/Viet Cong RL victories with comparison and justification to my own familiarity with CSV... I'd figured I'd throw 'em a bone. :D
No offense intended, just having fun. :)

Still accepting applicants...
Wouldn't mind playing as the allied if someone wants the NLF.
