Soon I will be paying a visit to a retail store in the St L area that carries HPS stuff on the shelves and - with advance apologies to my Mim :D

here is what I am looking for

The new WWII game
Waterloo
Eckmuhl
Peninsula Campaign
Gettysburg
Ozark
-oh hell any of the Civil War games
ME 67
Guadalcanal
Jutland
Eagles Strike
then the 2 Pacific themed SB games....

-Now the thing about this place is that they run sales ... so if something is one sale it may move up -or in some cases even on to the list... and I don't plan on getting all of those - but maybe about 4 or 5 dunno -will go there stare at the shelves and let my feelings flow :D something like that :)

the place is called Software Plus 13025 Olive blvd: technically in Creve Coeur MO

314-434-3311

HPS lists them on their site as -- iirc their only Missouri based retailer. I snagged Korsun or it might have been Rzhev at $28.00 last year about this same time of year.

Im a great SB fan but to be honest I'd just buy Pacific War rather than both Pacific games. Or buy Pac War and Vietnam dont bother with Tour of Duty and unless your really after Marine Pacific scenarios dont bother with Proud and the Few. ES is a great buy so is Advance of the Reich (Both of these games have loads of user made scenarios so are excellent value for money). If your after a single play experience Korea has the best stock single player scenarios.

Also if youve never played an SB game just buy one first. Acquired taste.

Steve does that store have a website?

Yeh they sure do Danny -- although the website imo is kinda crappy.

You might do as well just phoning the store.

anyway, the link ...
http://www.shopforsoftware.com/catalog/list/120/category.aspx

I surfed around there - and I remember why I hate that site -- it is programmed like crap ... lots of errors- so many it would lead you to believe the place is defunct.

But the parent business - is that Software Plus name - and according to what I read on some independent sites last year before going over there - it was totally legit - then I saw it in person - it isn'tt EB Games or Gamestop - that is for sure - and it is listed on the HPS site ... ugh I hate poor websites - but then again I was going to be in the area anyway last year so I figured I had nothing to lose-- being in MO I was going to get nailed with ther sales tax either way .... by mail order or in person...

One other tihng iirc Alamein came out about this time last year and they did not have that in the store yet on Memorial Day weekend - so it is possible they may not have Waterloo, the Blitz game, or even the Peninsula Campaign -- so it is sort of a target of opportunity deal for me.

Danny, dunno if I owe you a turn or not --- lmk if I do. ;)

:smoke: Wodin -- I got Adv of the Reich ... although I cannot claim to have devoted much time to learning it -- that map of Stalingrad on the HPS page sold me -- so I gurss I am a sucker for stuff like that ..

With the Pacific ones -I was after the force pools realy ... what got me interested is the similar scale to an old fav of mine - Steel Panthers - which I dunno the Matrix free versions never really did it for me like the original ones...
Anyway, wil see what I can find - and promise to report back here after the damage is done ... Av/Mim wanted to know what I was apologizing for up above :D -- I told her it was her finding out about the potential extent of this shopping trip ;) on the boards first :D

Kidding Mim --- just kidding -- you know me ;)

 what a waste of a trip -- I wanted most of what they did not have -- well anyway I wound up with Campaign Eckuhl ( wanted Waterloo with it ... dammit  ) ... and ME 67 ... could have had the 2 NATO/WP games too - but declined it - they only had Corinth, and Franklin of the Civil war series - dammti I wanted Gettysburg at the very least - or Ozark .... Oh well, I will console myself that NWS has them for nearly exactly the same net price after shipping -- so it pays to multi-source :smoke:
