To see the German counterpart look at MadCom AAR Bastogne as German
http://www.warfarehq.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2714

PREAMBULE

As I told in the other Bastogne mirrored AAR, my English could be sometime heratic :D add a bad type writting and you got strange results !! But as my Paleontologist teachers told me a nice drawing is better than a long speech. So it is why I introduced here lot of maps.

Blue stripped lines show the defence line I try to hold :D, blue arrows the moves attacks or retreats. Yellow arrows show supposed opponent moves as I perceived them

Mantis please note that to avoid space consumption I don't show most of the south actions. (please refer to MadCow AAR). I am respectous or our greatest Moderatooor, Ladder points por favor gobernador !!:hail:

Turn 1

This turn took me by surprise, German troops ran into my lines, I need to mass troops from Bastogne to frontline. Still present is the 10th armored ( green counter), along with elements of the 9th armored and troops of the VII corps (grey counters).
My first task was to create a 2nd defense line with elements of the 9th armored (black counters)

Turn 2

The 101 airborne come on field, Happy to get your here boys!.
2 of 3 maps joined here, show you the deployment of those reinforcements.

In the south a Block line to hold or precede the south claw of German troops.
In Bastogne I let only Arty and HQ, I sent the 101 btn to creat a 3rd defence line like curved shield with Bastogne as focus point.

In the east the goal is to block German but not to be surrounded.
Slow down but not destroyed, I will need armored troops to sustain the encirclement shock.. I need to take the opposite tactics I played as German in the mirrored counterpart :D

Turn 3, 4, 5. ( from top to bottom)

During those turn MadCow deploy his plan, to flank me north.
In central part I form a 1st defence line with both armored division and arty btn of 7th Corp. But this line is broken and again the danger of to be surrounded must be ward off.
some from scratch companies are coming, they will form the back bone for the third line of defence.

In turn 5 part of surrounded troops escape and rejoined the 2nd defence line. But again German troops outflank them and the escape game run again :argh: but where is my second line of defence in the north, whoaoh it stinks :gas:

But the north outflanking movement find me in the west humm as I can say it in French "A poil" (Naked). :whist:,

Turn 6 to 8.

I can design this part of the game as the surrounding battle

In the East the mixed elements of 10 and 9 th armored with 7th corps units try to escape surrounding, they play their role well, mobilize part of german troops avoiding them to join quickly the main battle ( time is running for me). Better escaped units will
1) do a small counter attack to gain space
2) some units as a tank company of 8th Armored permit to play a reserve role in turn 8 reinforcing the werstern zone.

In North the German push begins

In west they spread ( Main error for MadCow) rather than diving into the town of Bastogne where I've no reserve for turn 6 and 7.

In south the southern claw moves ( to late IMHO). But I saw a bigger danger near Bastogne and during turn 7 I move some glidder Btn in the Town

Turn 9 the Watershed

Hourrah the Paton reinforcement are coming. For me from here the battle is over for German. Why am I so confident, look at the map.

1st The Snow coming wipe out Luftwaffe.

2nd, I was abble to create a continuous line of defence in the north, with plenty of Arty behind the troops to gave them as much as possible support, even if a gap come I 'll be capable to nail it

3rd in south German troops are to weak to block the reinforcement, I took time to mash some of FalshirmJäger btn yeahhhh.

Turn 10 - 13 Counter attack took place

In turn 10 German attacks Bastogne and seize 1st half of the town.

In Turn 11 the counter attack begins. I made Bastogne Free. In south I continue to digest FJ.

From turn 11 with reinforce the reconquest begins, I send small troops seize lonely german owned VPs.

I need to push hard north to seize all the VP to be sure to get marginal Victory (The best possible for US, look at scenario briefing)

better, from now, the US air corps return in force for interdiction (75% at high tide). German seems to be pinned.

what else to say, push, outflank, surround and mash, as much as possible

Turn 14 - 17 and Final

I don't try to cut supply line to early, I must concentrate all my effort on northern VP. I must gain all of them to get victory.

At the end, turn 16, I divert some troops to seize the 1 supply point then to move north to seize the second one near OberWampach ( pronouce obervamparr). german reinforcement do for little here as USAC attack them a lot.
And at the end US final reinforcement arrival near Bras and renomchamp ( south east of the map help me to finalize the victory.

Game end on turn 19 with marginal victory, my second one, as all VP have been conquered.
