I have recently incorporated the ETO OOB of the US Army and migrated it to the west front engine. The information was gleaned from the US army website as well as the The Worl War II order of Battle for the US Army by Shelby Stanton. I also edited the Vehicle files so you have tank transports And LCI's that carry more then 1 Unit. For Example you can have a company unload from an lci with movement penalty but it is interesting in the Omaha Scenarios. Also if anyone knows a way to actually embed an Army Org into the Campaign Please email me at marcbarker123@comcast.net. Thanks

I would be most interested in the code for this, please!!

Thank you in advance!

Marc, do you plan on making it available for other players?

Yeah I sure will.... There is an encoder that was available years ago as freeware......you can add weapons and vehicles to the weapons and platoon.pdx files. This works on all 3 games, EF WF and RS. There is a good website for CS scenarios. www.redarrowproductions.com....alot of good material there...please look later this week for the zip file. It will have a good description of how to and also how to add other nationalities to RS for the enhancements with that. Like Starshells....German SS on loan Units to Japan...Marines going to Onaha. LVT-4 comming ashore...screw the DD's. Makes for fun scenario building. But be warned make backup copies of the OOB's you want to edit.

I'm fairly familiar with the process as I use the tools on a regular basis, but I'm merely curious as to how you've coded your carrying units to carry more than one infantry/tank platoon at the same time.

Please enlighten me!

Thanks in advance

Create or modify existing vehicle

where the portage points are given, you can give the trucks the same as LCM to carry tanks. Can transport rafts and boats

Updating Units. Updating units is simple. One only has to make changes to the data fields in the unit's platoon##.oob file. Each field represents a specific aspect of the unit, and is detailed in the chart below.

Create or modify existing vehicle <snip>

It appears we're having a failure to communicate.

Your original post has the following statement within:

... I also edited the Vehicle files so you have tank transports And LCI's that carry more then 1 Unit. For Example you can have a company unload from an lci...

This is all I am questioning about... and this is what I want to know how you've done so. I know my way around the unit editor, and have made a number of new units, especially for PB#2 - including those that run on the rails. But to create a unit that carries more than one other unit has me baffled. The Landing craft specs you've given above is the same as found in the original platoon file for the US.

So, I ask again, what coding did you use for your LCI craft to carry more than one infantry platoon?

Thanks in advance!

Take care and good luck

Id be interested in knowing how you do more than one platoon being carried by another. That would be quite a breakthru.

I did a backdoor approach. I thought about how can I get more then 1 unit in a vehicle? Then it dawned on me up the portage of truck now load a tank on the truck . now load the truck on the LCT. It worked. Now I thought well since that way (albeit a bad way) worked why not load a tank on a tank and then load on an LCT. Worked a again. Now I have 2 tanks on a LCT. Now for the Company . Yep you guessed it Tank on a Tank on a Tank on a Tank on a LCT. There is your Company. This is really a work around while I try to really stabilize the Loading and Unloading of Trucks Armor etc. The concept works. Now comes the Details. Every mod you do to the platoon OOB must be recoded. You can adopt this to Infantry as well. I only use it for the Huge Landings Like in Omaha or Utah There is the usual LCVP’s all over the place but then Comes the big boys LCI’s and LCM LCT. Less clutter and less to move. There is a chance that others will cheat by loading a Pak38 on a Machine gun squad in order to get the movement capabilities on open ground running but Hey it is fun to Unload those LCI’s with a Company Instead of single platoons all over the Place. Makes for a cleaner unit Orgs on the battlefield. I hope this makes sense

Interesting indeed!

Can you send me the oob files that you used to get this working? I'd like to see the coding.

Send them to jasonp(a)theblitz.org

Thanks in advance!
