AAR: Makaze
I played Mike's Makaze scenario from the Japanese side
I intercepted some Beagle Photo-recon planes going for my TF. They were neutral but the orders did not forbid me to take the first shot. I did get my strikers off my airbases just in case I would trigger an SSM barrage .... but I didn;t. My TF (I combined the three) took off for the target area and my strikers on the first mission killed the Hanzou and an escort, great result! Chinese jamming was good and Chinese fighters ofter fired first, and I was losing planes. Followup airstrikes took out 6 more destroyers but three survivors approached my TF. When in harpoon range I killed them all. My own sub got close to the targets but had been forced underwater repeatedly by Taiwanese trackers that I did not think would differentiate between Japanese and Chinese subs. I think my jamming prevented the Chinese from ever getting a contact, and even though I stumbled on a han and a kilo no real airstrikes were mounted on my TF. When Victory conditions were triggered I had lost 15 fighters, killed about 20 plus 9 warships and two submarines.
Nice accurate little scen though a little tame as the Chinese never used airstrikes and nothing much happened in the late parts of the game.
