Jason:

You seem to be the expert here on this game i cant seem to get it to install so i had to uninstall my entire DG game and hope you can give me some step by steps on how to install it correctly. I went to the website that contains it and he refers to following his step by step directions but I cant seem to locate it and i the thought of the mod really intrigues me so any help you can provide would be most welcome or anyone else for that matter.

Ahh, haven't done this in awhile...

But, if I recall correctly:

1. Install Divided Ground - I'd recommend a separate install for DG and DG Vietnam; therefore, call the folder DGNam or something.

2. Add the 1.02 Patch

2b Alternative - You could at this point go in and remove all .scl, .scn and associated files - thereby when you open up the game it will only show you scenarios that are vietnam related

3. Add the DG Terrain MOD to the DGNam folder

4. Add the all Vietnam files to the DGNam folder

5. Open up the game, and go to play a scenario, finding "ARVN ATTACK". Start the scenario and see if it works.

Hope that helps
Take care and good luck

Not to sound argumentive or anything, but I recommend leaving the original Divided Ground scenarios, campaigns, and all downloaded scenarios for DG in the modded game file. Why? The DG mod has many changes to it, many of the units are re-skinned and have corrections to their stats.

For example, the Israeli TOW missile teams no longer have a defense factor of zero (it's 6 now, I think) and many APC's have a more appropriate defense factor of "3" instead of "2," like the old WWII-style halftracks. I personally like the new skins for many of the arab units, and some units have whole new shapes for them.

There is one apparent reason for maintaining a separate DG folder though, the way I understand it; there is a bug in the VN mod that removes the extra action-point cost for going uphill. It would also seem to me, that because of this, anyone trying to play another player (without this mod) would not be compatible (they would be unable to pbem due to file-conflict issues). And, as far as I'm aware, any ORIGINAL Divided Ground scenarios/campaigns you play will also include the uphill-action-point "bug" in the game, as long as the Vietnam mod is installed.

Despite this, I love the DG-Vietnam mod. It's breathed new life into my DG game. :)

Of course, the suggestion I made above was assuming there would be a separate installation of DG, thereby making the Divided Ground scenario and campaign files redundant.

Thanks for not taking offense Jason...I wasn't quite sure of the most delicate way to word my last post. :nervous:

Ideally, the best situation (it would seem to me) would be to have a:

1) vanilla-pure install of Divided Ground (patched only),

2) a DG-Vietnam with Vietnam scenarios only, and

3) a DG-VN with only middle-eastern scenarios and camapigns.

I personally have just a DG install (unmodded) and a DG-VN install (and everything else thrown in), which is the one I use to game with.
