View Full Version : World at War query II
Hey guys- I posted most of this Q. a little lower down in my old thread- but just incase that doesn't get noticed, I'm asking again here.
When I do recieve and install WaW, will I be screwing up any of my current pbem games? I figured I'd save the pertinent bte files, uninstall the current versions of the CS games, install WaW, re extract the most recent bte files from my pbems into the appropriate folders, and I'd be back in business...also, does WaW bring everything up to the right version too? (like EFIIv1.02 for instance)
Was wondering too, how many discs is WaW comprised of? Is there any consolidation -say, all EF materiel on one disc, and all WF and RS materiel on their respective discs? Or is it ALL the discs that TS ever issued for the CS? Not that that's too important- the number of discs- I'm merely curious.

..Well, I just read Jason's sticky, and that answered my questions- except one, ARE there any known issues with ongoing pbem, assuming we're all on the same version?

Good day, Brian.
Hmm.. no, there shouldn't be any problems. In theory anyways.

Well, we shall see very soon, as it just arrived in the mail- I was surprised- I ordered it Wed. night, and here it is 1pm monday!
Oh- anybody reading this- I refer to Jason as "Stonewall" now, for "Look! There (on Hill 239)stands Jason like a stone wall!"
Just about everybody I am playing right now in my return to the field of virtual battle is schooling me, but Jason in particular is brutalizing me! In Kursk like fashion, I have rammed and prodded and bled my panzers and grenadiers white trying to blast my way through his line to Hill 239, but to no avail. A few hundred meters gained in about 2.5 hours of game time, at grave expense, and I am about to be enveloped by a well excecuted counter attack. Suplies are low, and my force is in near complete disarray! :dead: Next time, I will try something new: FINNESSE!!!
All the best!

I'm playing with WaW EF2 1.03, so there shouldn't be any problems of conversions...
One thing I noticed when when playing the germans with panthers and Tigers in your arsenal (from my own numerous experiences at being brutalized playing EF2) is that your infantry HAS GOT to keep up with your panzers. Usually, because of time restraints, I always pushed my panthers too far ahead of my grenadiers and they were easy prey for always massive T34 counterattacks.
[edit] BTW, email will be delivered in about 10 minutes
laugh:
He keeps beating my infantry off! they auto-retreat, often to a less than advantageous location, leave the armor hanging and then- bang bang! I'm dead/dying. I have over extended my armor in a few places now too- time constraints forcing the gamble. My biggest problem right now vs. Stonewall, is supply- He's got me by the short and curlies there. I am a few hexes beyond range with about 25 units, BUT, his counter attack has many of my HQ's hiding in every hole they can find, so I can't advance them forward! It's almost over though, only a few turns left. I'm still managing to dribble forward though, but it won't be enough. Having a lot of fun anyway, so, it's all good!
Once mine and Jason's game is up, Trigger Happy, you will have the honor of being the guy kicking the crap outta me the worst- even though we are still at a draw technically...don't like the look of things though- but, I have a few good positions left- I give myself a 33% chance of keeping the draw- AND, I still have some mobile units for a possible counter attack- I could re take a few (really, only a few) of those objective hexes! Curse those highly flammable lend lease Shermans! Though, you aren't having too much trouble with my T34's either...gotta force you into some shorter range situations to equalize the long arm of the Panther (they are behaving alot like Tigers! :OHNO: .
Wurst Nightmare is giving me a run for my money in 8th Panzer to the rescue...none of my other games are developed enough yet to begin lauding my opponents performance. :whist:
