CM scenario designers, a few questions for you as I set about creating one of my own.

I know there are many varibiles here but basically...

When you design a scenario is there a "standard" ratio of points you use between the attacker & defender? I've heard you need a 3:1 at least as the attacker.

In CM does quantity equal quality?

(As in it takes 8-10 Shermans to beat a Tiger.)

Such as if a Tiger VIE costs @200 pts do you take 2 T-34's @110 pts each to equal it, or 3 Valentine IX's? Quality vs quantity?

Or does one Soviet Pioneer Company @250points equal one Tiger?

And what weight is given to AT-Guns? They cost next to nothing, how many would equal say that Tiger? On points it would be about 3 guns. But then you have their inability to move (w/o transport) coupled with their small size.

OR... do you use other factors besides point cost, (gunsize/vehicle size/armor etc).

Thanks, if you have an indepth relpy feel free to email me!

I tend to try to have a Attack Defend scenarios at 1.5 or 2:1 .. Balance is achieved by type of units on each side. My Attack defend scenarios are designed primarly for AI... But I have two waiting in the wings for Tourney play...

As for the Tiger Issue.... Depending on what the designer is trying to achieve RPGs neutralize them quite easily in in CMBB... So a combination of manuverability cover on the map, is a must unless it is a tank battle... In the latter case manuverability and a couple platoons of T-34/85s usually can take care of Tigers, and some SU-85s and it is a whole new ball game...

Now if you are talking CMBO, Infantry is a neutrilizer to Tiger if there is enough cover... Otherwise Shermans must use their speed and get a few lucky shots...
