To the Soviet players: if you need to assault, please pay attention to this:
Speed limit motorways: 110 km/h
Highways: 90 km/h
Urban areas: 50 km/h
Many of the coastal beaches you may want to invade have very precious biotopes. Try to send in scouts and engineers in advance to clear paths through any delicate areas. Do not litter. Shut off any engine after one minute of idle running.
In occupation duty, remember not to offend the feminists, they could be a greater threat to you than the home defense and odd angry hunters. It's ok to kill deer and elk, but stay away from the reindeer, our natives will go mad.
If you are thrown out, and chances are great that you will be, no one has ever managed (bothered) to occupy this country, please come back, and bring more of your friends. Tourism is underdeveloped in our country.
And never forget to say thank you, when entering and when leaving, it's part of the social code here.
And good luck. :)

I am a big fan to them too. Problem is fan means satan here. :D
Oh ho , thread drifting warning :bandit: issued...
Geez, I'm paired up against Laszlo (top 3 in the last tourney)
and bulldozer (currently high score). Well Laszlo it should be a good game!
Et tu, Brute?
First turn out to Cesar. Damn, looks that it'll be some sort of franco-french battle - expect a French-only AAR... :devious:

Franco-french battle... does that mean you both surrendered on turn one? ;) That'll be a short AAR. Just kidding nemo, couldn't help myself at this opportunity... been reading to much French-bashing in the Off Topic Section...

Was I eliminated from the 3rd round?..........
Did you see this thread (http://www.war-forums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25048)? The poll within was used to confirm each player's participation in round 3.
I want to believe there will be a fix to this - it would be rather peculiar in my opinion to have the original petitioner for the tourney and the corrector of the scenario used in the previous round left out... :)

Was I eliminated from the 3rd round?..........Crap, with the email I sent a week ago and posting this, I was hoping to avoid this situation. Okay, I may need to reshuffle some matches.

roflmaoabcomn! That's got to be an embarrassing mistake... :laugh:No, I intentionally left myself out. After being sick most of last week, RL has really piled up on me. So I decided I had to reduce my playing time for a few weeks to catch up. :(
CyberGeneral - I have you added now. You'll be playing Vir and Walkra.
Vir and Walkra - I had to break your match to fit in CyberGeneral. Sorry!!!

Very happy to be in this again.....I felt a little duh to have not seen the pole with the reconfirm.....Sorry to have seen Westpointer withdraw himself....I was thinking for a moment there, as I was reading the threads this morning, that I may have been paired with WP'er......A bit disappointed but looking forward to the games against Vir and Walkra........

Sorry, a spur of the moment acronym for rolling on floor laughing my ass off, blowing coke out my nose.
I too, wish Brent could have stayed with the tourney. I suppose though, that it will give him more time to stay behind the scenes, keeping all the nuts and bolts tightened - in our case, mostly the nuts...

Mr.Clark,
I wouldn't say I'm good.
I did get a little lucky with the pairing s tho.
1 or 2 rookies were beaten badly giving me big points.
Don't worry, I'll probably choke on this scenario.
bdr.
So I am glad because I am not good either and until now at leas one of my opponents was always mcuh better than me.

Hey Plutonico,
Tried to send you an e-mail to juanl.aquirre@vah.es but the message keeps getting bounced back. Is this the correct address for you?
Looks like I'm the Ruskies. I need to take a look at the scenario, and then *hopefully* I can get a starting move out to you sometime this week, or by next weekend.
Looking forward to a good battle!

I'll be very slow in getting started with this round. Had Spring Cleanup this past weekend, and will be working on taxes through the 15th. Oldest daughter's birthday is the 16th, and will be celebrated this coming weekend. Then, next week, I have to report for jury duty.
To top it all off, I still haven't hotseated more than a turn and a half into this game. I am woefully unprepared for this round... :nervous:

You have to manually check the 'Save messsage...' box under the body of the message before you send it.
Mantis posted something about this a few weeks ago if I remember well.
Hope it helps.

A bit of a late start, finally have gotten my Soviets marched up on the border... both T1 sent. Seems the Finns are pretty well mobilised, but the Swedes are still in bed!
Is it kosher for the Nordic player (me in my other game) to conduct a little brigdeblowing campaign on T1? I did so, but I am not sure this is ok.
And finally a scenario where I get to use nukes! I will only do it in Finland of course.

Mr.Clark,
My forces are enjoying the fine weather and girls.
We don't predict ANY offensive at all from the Russians.
Should be the easiest OV i've had so far. :D
The longer you wait, the more I'll learn what the Russians Can do from my other game and the better defense will be constructed for the Nords.
Just giving ya a heads up so as not to DESTROY you too badly.

Just kidding ya man, prodding for a turn!

Actually... No grudges ever with the Finns. The Norwegians and the Danes, well... ;)
I read some complaint about Sw. Ranger movement - those guys are not to be underestimated. They move in boats travelling at 60 knots, they can and have and will cover the entire coast in a night. And they are very, dedicated.

Ah you've read Jan Guillou. Not someone I read, again. Those books are a joke. Rasmus, if you read Swedish with little difficulty I'll be happy to provide you with the Operation Garbo books.
I am quite sure I could manage a book in swedish :bounce: :bounce: if I could ask you for clarifications now and then :whist: . Now garbo is that the code name for a russian invasion of Sweden?

one question to you the enlightend. what do i use missile units for..as a ww2 buff i have no clue how to use these units...put them into tactical mode so they support attack/defence, as direct artillery assaults ona particluar hex or as airfiled attacks?
thanks

thanksThey seem to be most useful in airfield attacks while war remains conventional. Dig them in before the last round of combat so that they can provide some measure of support.
When or if it becomes nuclear, use them to nuke away enemy concentrations of soft-skinned equipment (aircraft, trucks, squads and the like). Russian SSM units come in two flavours (didn't have a chance yet to use the Pershings on the other side):
short range (37) with a typical yeld below 100KT - useful for point attacks, for instance against airfields;
long range (101) delivering around 700KT warheads - I use the latter against large groupings of troops (I guess the NATO reinforcements in Norway have suffered a bit or groups of airfields).
My two cents.
