Those of you playing SPWAW H2H out there, what version of SPWAW are you using? H2H 7.1 FR states it will function under SPWAW versions 5.0 to 7.1.
Is anybody currently using this file under SPWAW 8.3?
If not, what version of SPWAW do you prefer using it with?
I am dying to play some online games and due to the complete lack of interest in SP3 Online I'm thinking that SPWAW H2H is a viable ,though limited, option.
How many people are playing this out in SP land? :blab:

Hello Skirmisher.
I have versions 5.1 thru 8.3 WAW
I have used the three versions of H2H over the 7.1 SPWAW.
The summer version; the winter version; and of course the regular H2H over 7.1
These versions act much like regular versions so if you start a game in either you must continue with the same type of H2H or a message comes up each turn.
I had put H2H over ver8.0SPWAW and played at least 5 games of pbem with it before deleting it.
I read a post by Double Deuce as well, saying that he had H2H over version8.2 SPWAW. [For those of you who are new to SPWAW and its versions: 8.2 SPWAW is the most recent full version dload. While version 8.3 is achieved via a patch only, over the full version 8.2 much like H2H is installed over a SPWAW version]
The upside is that some countries get a stronger anti-tank capacity [Canadian Bren Gun units can knock out tanks] but in the regular SPWAW they run away from tanks!!]
My sole reason for installing H2H is that it eliminated the Panther UHU's ability to see through smoke out to any distance. Since they do not get AI or alias return direct fire while they are behind smoke this overwhelming advantage is corrected in the H2H as opposed to agreeing that they not be bought!
But that was back in the version 7 days.
I do have a current game of pbem H2H going.
Unfortunately, I still do not have an internet connection so Online is not an option for me just yet. Perhaps in the near future.

Thanks for the info.
What version of SPWAW are you using right now with H2H?
I find it interesting because Panzer Leo added Dive bombers :)
I couldn't get H2H 7.1 FR working under the latest Matrix product SPWAW 8.30 ,kept getting errors regarding missing or wrong files.

Hello Skirmisher. I have the H2H with summer icons over version 7.1 as it was intended to be used by Panzer Leo.
It is ironic that he added in Dive Bombers but in the unit screens for air support in H2H it does not show how much ammo a unit has.
In regular WAW this does show.
Maybe it was unintentional.
Most everyone that likes the game likes the way the asterisk does not show when your opponent has spotted you.

Problem there for me is the file for SPWAW 7.1 complete is not availible anywhere right now for download, and my one copy of the file is on my old (corrupted) hard disk.
Double Deuce is somehow running it (H2H 7.1FR) over the latest version (8.30) of SPWAW.I was just trying to achive the same results. I figure I want to be playing the version where the most people are using is. Being that SPWAW 7.1 version is near impossible to find right now I thought most people at this point would tend to use it over the latest version.
Though that doesnt seem possible, people are doing it,quite a paradox wouldnt you say?
Hey Skirmisher! You can get H2H to work installed over Spwaw versions 8.0 and later. All you have to do is copy the spwaw.avi file into the SND/STREAM folder and rename it to vid998.smk. Make sure you uncheck "hide filename extensions" in your files preferences or you'll rename to vid998.smk.avi without knowing it (as I did ;) )
Cheers,
Stephen.

Actually :) I did that, and I got an error, Smackw32.dll not found. I downloaded the Smackw32.dll file and tried again.
Another error. Smackw32.dll file linked to different Mech.exe
So I'm sorta dead in the water right now as far as getting that going. :o

Hello skirmisher.
Say, I can email you the patch for version 7.1
I'll have to go home so it won't be emailable till tommorrow.
By the way I thought version 7 was full but 7.1 was only a patch.
Anyway there is a chance Airborne or one of the others like Jim etc... may come by and supply you with a link to a dload site that still has it.\
If not tommorrow it is.

This Works,I think it was all that balony about moving everything to a new directory from that chap at the SPWAW depot you emailed me about. That was not needed.
This is what I did to install it.
A) Install SPWAW 8.20 complete.
B) Install SPWAW 8.30 patch.
C)Delete all campaigns and scenerios.
D) Install H2H 7.1 FR.
E) Unzip the vid998.smk file availible at the "blitz"website,
into c:\ SPWAW H2H \SND\Stream folder.
F) Create new desktop link directly to the new mech.exe
Works fine now, lol.

Looks really good your list.
I recall there being a post with the DLoad address for those version 7's for those who are interested in comparing H2H over 7's versus the 8's. Perhaps if we get our comments in early enough Pzr Leo will incorporate them into a version 9:)
So the search engine is going to take a whirl.

Works fine now, lol.Yeah what you can do is install everything in its normal SPWAW Folder, then create a folder called SPWAWH2H. Then copy all the SPWAW stuff to it so you have both versions available, then install H2H. This way you can then have both SPWAWH2H and SPWAW 8.3.

Perhaps if we get our comments in early enough Pzr Leo will incorporate them into a version 9:) I think the version H2H is installed over is not really relevant since H2H replaces the OOB and the actual mech.exe file (which is the game engine itself). Installing it over 8.3 just allows you to use those newer graphics and sound files. Anyone with H2H can play another H2H player without issue regardless of the base version it was installed over (7 or greater of course).

But I dont want SPWAW 8.3 on my hard disk,no need.
I just want one version and this is the one to have.

Thank you for all your help.Well when you put it that way. :D . I have kept 8.3 but don't use it. With SPWAWH2H, SPMBT and SPWW2 all on my PC I stay pretty busy anyway.

Good Point. I'd like to have a copy of WinSPWW2 as well but that could be awhile till its released. In the meantime if I want to try WW2 (including online games) I can just use good ole H2H. By the way I saw an upgraded Belgium OOB at the blitz for H2H.
I changed my mind,SPWW2 is to good a game not to have on my hard drive.
