View Full Version : Wow
Haven't visited the forum for a week or so and come back to find a flurry of activity and some tremendous beta test work being done. Well done guys and thank you. I suspect there are quite a few lurkers like me who don't post much but visit the forums regulalrly to see what is happening and are keen for this game to ultimately succeed. On behalf of all them thanks.

:bounce:I agree and I think it is time for me to revisit POA2. So here is my question to the "regulars"...
 I have build 225 installed.
:ar15: Consider me an "advanced" simulation user as my dayjob is as a Simulations Analyst at DLDC/CGSC.
:hmmm: Where should I start?
:crosseye: I don't mind RTFM if a current one is available.
:hail: I've seen some posts about tutorials. If those are ready for prime time, just show me the necessary links.
Or, if at all possible...
I can run Teamspeak server or Skype and somebody can talk with me and we can play multi-player online as you tutor me. :joy:
P.S. Now that I have gotten my RDA of smilies in this one post, I can get back to serious gaming. http://www.tinjaw.com/smilies/salute2.gif

Welcome back to what is quickly becoming an obsession for some of us

If you haven't done so already, download the half dozen or so user made maps, custom terrain set and the PDF version of the game manual, available here: http://www.hpssims.com/Pages/updates/up_POA2/Updates_POA2.html
The user manual that comes with the game provides an adequate overview of the general game mechanics and user interface. Over the last year, however, the various patches have significantly enhanced the game and added new functionality not covered in the original manual. From a recent email, it appears that Scott is working on a new manual, but we don't know when that may be completed.
The in-game help is actually very good and is something Scott has made an effort to maintain and expand with each patch. Just about every pop-up window has a "Help" button which take you to game information specific to that screen. Lastly, but certainly not least, the participants in this forum have been excellent about sharing information, providing opinions and answering questions.
I would also recommend that you experiment with the scenario editor. Since about Buil 215, the scenario editor has been extremely stable and consistent. I have built 10 - 15 scenarios (mostly to test game mechanics) over the last month and have encountered very few problems. Building and playing couple of small scenarios is an excellent way to learn the basics.

I created one scenario that you can find here:
http://www.warfarehq.com/archives/forumdisplay.php?f=35 It focuses on learning some of the basics about mechanized infantry including working with composite units, loading/unloading and moving in formation.
I have a second tutorial (focusing on Artillery) in development, but have put it aside for the time being while I focus on beta testing some of the remaining critical issues.
I have no doubt that one of the other regulars would be happy to start a PBEM with you. I am currently in the middle of one with Choowee and it has been quite enjoyable.
Thanks,
Mike

Thanks for the info, but I can't find the manual on that page. Must be my old age. Can you double check it is still there?
