Welcome.
AEF027 and Danstudentvcc have renewed hostilities after pausing for a short memorial service in a previous battle thread.
The new sit-op is an Me 262 Swallow aerodrome. With Chlanda hardened flak towers and open fields the Sov player [Danstudentvcc] will be hard-pressed to wrestle the Ge Flag control from AEF027. The battle is set in Sept '44 with only 4 000 points apiece.
Set to an advance setting this promises to be a classice set piece battle. There is however some cover along the map edges from which the Ge and Sov player may launch spoiling or diversionary attacks.
The Soviet Army rag has already printed a headline story on the need to destroy these vengeance and ultimate secret weapons created in Hitlers demonic laboratories. Once again our Communist Brethren are called upon to lead the world's battle against evil.

The Germans have setup near our lines. It appears they have gone for a mobile defense. Already Stg's and HT's are seen across open sights.
Pictures tommorrow.
The tops of the flak towers are as well clearly visible; yet I am supposedly in cover and not observed.

Our forces sit in the rain and await the enemy. It is unknown as to what size their force is or what they are bringing to the battle. We feel that we have a solid defense plan in place and eagerly await our foe...

Well the Germans may think us cowards but those flak towers are pretty tall and dominating. As well they are Chlanda reinforced structures so there is no prior experience to go by. The buildings may fall on the first shot or they may cause my forces to behave like ducks in a shooting gallery as they run in and out of cover that does not hide them!!! ycuk ycuk :laugh:
Anyway the Germans have already gone on the offensive and the Soviet position is unchanged.

I wasnt laughing at your tactics,I was laughing at your opponents choice of words :) I understand sometimes its best to hide.
We are pressing the attack to flush the rabbits from their holes. We caused some casualties from small arms fire and we lost a few men, but the battle is young and we still have plenty of time.

AEF027's Ge forces are not only mobile they are also quite gungho. They are not content to quietly select targets and to remain hidden. Instead they have launched an attack that will result in close quarters fighting quite soon.
Alas I may be too thin to deal with his assault. It shall remain with later turns to determine how well the Soviets can bounce back.

Unbelieveable.
These Germans will stop at nothing to turn our homeland into their own and to claim it as their own for posterity!
They think nothing of shooting our brave country men in the back.
Today we will show them what it means to be fighting the Motherland.
It is for today that we fight.
All our tankmen are out and fighting. Those NAZI's who came closest to our lines are now dead and missing!
We shall not stop till we have driven them from their East Prussian Me262 Wonder Weapon airfield.
For our Comrade Stalin we have marched in Moscow. Now we fight! :D

The Russians broke out and caused some losses for our forward units. We hit them back and took out some of their armor and supporting troops. We will not let up until every one of them is crushed beneath our treads.

Our Superior 88 Gun has decimated an inferior Russian tank. In other action, our mighty Stug eliminated another brain-washed advancing Russian tank. We are prepared for the Russians to offer surrender terms :smoke:

Hello. I can sincerely say my troopers will not surrender now that they have finally left the Russian homeland. Those unit may have been all that was left of the Russian tank force. The remainder are sitting immobilized in the mud and the rain. Apparently a T-34 85 is not a good choice for all weather tanking! They might respond to a mop-up however. But I'd be cautious if I was the German player afterall those Soviet SMG's pack a mean first fire!!

Much can be said about the mud. Much can be said about the appetite of the mud.
Much can be said about watching tanks skating by on the mud.
Much should be said about these tanks sitting blissfully in mud with guns pointing in anything but the right directions.
Lets all give a prayer now in the hope that they will quickly become unstuck as the Ge Panzers close with prey this very turn.:shock:

Hello.
Some times it is hard to tell who is on the offence and who is on the defence.
The Soviets have managed a few more shots at German tanks.
However more than half of the offensive Soviet armour remains mired in the mud.
This could get tough. :D

The Cowards do not advance from their positions. We need to go in and remove them by force. They shoot rockets and attack from holes in the earth. We will bomb them and collapse their holes. We are the victors...They must surrender soon :smoke:

Well fight fans it looks like my run of lady luck has run out again.
We are simply waiting for AEF's coup de grace!
The MBT's are all mired in the mud and we lack the infantry to proceed with the advance.
Woe is me.

At long last! Four T-34 85's have become unglued from the mud.
What a relief. We can now go back onto the offense rather than sit around trying to keep those lumbering giants protected.

Caught some Russian motorcycle troops in the open and shot at them with our Stug and machinegun teams. The Russians are finally emerging from their holes. They appear to have been playing in the mud like pigs from the mud on their tanks :p

:)Hello. Yes the tanks finally got out of the mud. They advanced into return fire. Then this turn while moving up some more they got immob'd again!
The only problem this time is that I won't be able to defend them as easily since there is now multiple avenues of approach for marauding Germans.
:smoke:However I've decided to leave them there and continue the attack. If they should become unstuck then they can drive fast to catch up.

The Battle continues to rage on. We lost a Stug and a scout car. We also inflicted some casualties this round. It appears that we may be headed to a final showdown soon. :smoke:

We struck and decisively eliminated several scout units....These crazy russians brang motorcycles to an armor war :smoke: We will begin sweeping the commies up and will soon secure the area :devious:
Our 88's engaged the enemy once again, but were not as successful this turn. We once again eliminated some Soviet motorcycle units. Some of our scouts have stumbled upon some tanks, so it appears they are in trouble :confused: This battle is still in our grasps to win. We will keep applying the pressure. :bandit:

Well it appears we have round 3 in our Aerodrome battle.
At the start AEF the defender began the game with a spoiling attack; which I love to see since it shows that a commander is not psychologically bound to the constraints of Atteacker-Defender.
Despite showing great aggression worthy of Panzer commander, my Soviet forces did not run away. That was Round #1 for both of us.
Round #2 varied for both of us. While I struggled with the muddy terrain and an inappropriate choice of tank AEF was developing his defend position including more attacks and sallies along the flanks.
Now we are round three. The Soviets are attempting a penetration along both flanks [nailed an 88mm tank this turn] while AEF appears to be attempting an exploitation of a weakened Soviet center.
How will it all end?

Our 88's are engaging the advancing Soviet Units. They are coming full force and we are headed for a collision. It appears that a final showdown is coming soon. Our men are dedicated and will repel the advancing enemy. :devious:
More engagements and I was ambushed in the rear by some Soviet Armor. Looks like it is coming down to an encirclement from Soviet Forces. It will be a decided by which army has more determination. :bandit:

[You know I just ahppen to have a blue and blue cube here..
Blue I go into the rear of AEF's forces where I know there can't be anything but 88mm's - OK
OR
Blue I attack from the other flank as well and faceoff against 88mm guns in flak towers more than 10 metres off the ground with increased hex defense values ..
You know perhaps I should get one of those Blue-Red cubes instead and attack his forces on a limited frontage directly headon while keeping within the LOS barriers to reduce counter fire.

Not much changed. This will come down to the last Soviet storming of the airfield. Hope we can hold them off ;)
The Soviets have started to crash full force onto the airfield and the situation appears to be grim. We were able to hit a few targets with our 88's. We will go down swinging :p

Hello.
I think the National Socialist fascists are trying to beguile me into marching into the open ground. From my end they do not look so atritted to me.
Just the same the commissaars have ordered a full attack from all directions. Of course this has resulted in further 88mm kills against my tanks for a lone 88mm wiped out in return.
It is do or die now.
or is that do or 'the' now ... :D

Well the Germans are somehow or other hiding several heavy kats.
In the interim the Soviets storm the Flak towers that have nursed deadly 88mm guns during this battle.
all but 5 or 6 flags are captured.
Never underestimate the Germans. They may have a surprise or two up their sleeves and the Soviet tank Wing is now noticeably thinner.

Yes, unless the Germans have something up their sleeves then it appears the Airport and Me262's are now in Soviet hands.
These jets are clearly copies of Soviet models. They will most likely be sold to Soviet Republics in need of second rate jets or for use as trainers.:smoke:

:surprise: This was no doubt a surprise move .. perhaps the politburo has been infiltrated and I am about to be summoned to Moskva to visit Beria's clone..
:cry: CFan this be true? Can SP WinMBT be really out? Will our dynamic duo just continue in ModernWarfare ?
