View Full Version : Composite Units?
Other than, MikeSinn's tutorial, is there a good description of the details on how composite units work. I understand the basics, but the actual screen and limitations confuse me.
Also, are more units going to be added in the future? I would like to be able to simulate some battles like Goose Green or Chinese Farm.

Back when this was released they were talking of offering "Expansion Packs". I do not know how the would be selected or the price, but due to the amount of labor to get the data in they were not going to be free.
Then the stability of POA2 pretty much brought Scott to his knees and he has been trying to get an official patch out ever since. Maybe once this is done this could be brought up again, but until ther is an official patch (Not Beta) I don't think he will even consider it.

Play around with composite units and you will find that they are quite adaptable. When you create a scenaio, you can totally alter the makeup of the composite units. You can delete units you don't want and change those that are attached. They have their limitations, and sometimes they are downright frustrating, but I have always been able to find ways to make them do what I want them too.
Composites are one of the most powerful tools I have ever seen in a wargame. I can see where they might be frustrating, but once you get the hang of it, it would seem the winner of a scenario may come down to most efficient user of composites. And in many ways that is true to life. Who ever can manage the organizations of thier forces has a big advantage.

I wonder if Scott would be willing to put in a toggle for a composite unit overlay depicting the area the composite unit is actually occupying.
