Hi, I downloaded the Harpoon3 Demo, and installed it. I tried playing it, and it worked fine the first time. But subsequently, it just displays a Command Promt dialog box that says:

"Harpoon3.ini not found. Creating Harpoon3.ini from default.ini. On some systems, Harpoon3 may exist, or give strange error messages after creating Harpoon3.ini. Try running Harpoon3 again if this happens.

Hit any key to continue."

The first time I opened it, the dialoge box said the same thing, so I pressed a key, and the game began. But now, I'll press a key, and the dialoge box will disappear, and that's the end of it.

Does anyone have any suggestions (for someone who's not a computer geek :) )?

Is the demo completely crashing to the desktop?

Have you ever installed the demo before or copied over a pre-existing folder?

Any driver updates between each game?

1) No, the desktop is fine.

2) I ran the INASTALLH3_INI_EDITOR twice (once when I installed it, the second time after I couldn't get Harpoon to work).

3) No, as I don't think I could say I have played any "games" yet. :) I haven't updated anything.

4) No need to apologize. Not knowing much about Harpoon, I might be missing something important that's "obvious."

Okay, let's see if this helps. I just DL'd the demo file, Harpoon3_Demo_v3_6_1A from AGSI to see what you might be up against.

I did the same thing that you did. Unzipped it and just hit the Harpoon3.exe file. The same initial screen started up and then I hit a key and I was into the Demo.

I was able to get back into the game without any trouble. The second, third, fourth times around, I was able to go directly into the Demo because the *.INI file had been set up. This is the icon that looks like this attached image.

Unless you moved files around to different folders, you might try deleting this *.INI file. When you open Harpoon3.exe and this is not present, one will be created for you.

Okay need to start fresh as Harpoon hates being installed over itself. Completely delete your harpoon3 demo folder and reinstall.
