Anyone played this game? http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/lock-on-modern-air-combat/?ui=gamefinder Is it any good?
Which flight sims would you reccomend?

It's reasonably good, if you want a high-fidelity, high-complexity flight sim.
In the same category I'd also recommend Falcon 4, with the full suite of patches and SuperPak4; see http://www.frugalsworld.com/ for details on those. While F4 was incredibly buggy on release, with SP4 the community has patched it into an amazing sim.
For WW2, try the IL-2 Sturmovik series (IL-2 Sturmovik, IL-2 Forgotten Battles, and Pacific Fighters; the latter two can be installed combined if you have the Ace Expansion Pack for Forgotten Battles.)
If you want a low-fidelity, low-complexity, "kick the tires and light the fires" style flight sim... er... ask somebody else. :)
Anybody know of any good helicopter sim games?

Lock-On is in the bargain bin here - too high requirements, equipment and learning-wise, for the average gamer.
If you want a good arcade-style helo game, get Comanche 4 from Novalogic.
If you want an in-depth game with realism, Either Gunship! or Longbow 2.

ditto! even though LOMAC is the toprated flight sim of the day the game does have its problems. LOMAC runs poorly even on highend systems and the learning curve is steep. However, the flight models are topnotch! The game has a solid group of supporters that are very helpful. I tried the game a few times, but as CPangrac points out it is not for the average gamer; you need to carve out some time to learn the systems...YMMV

Patrocles knows Aces High is the best World War II Flight Combat Sim there is
Too bad that I really don't have credit card anymore for re-subscribe Aces High again where I wanted to fight in furball with 200 pilots in Main Area and also there's good times in Combat Theater (Historical Area) too.

ha ha! right on! man, I can barely used a gunsight in a P-51 Mustang much less the AGP-6x radar system for a F-15 Eagle!
hey, iirc you may not need a credit card to subscribe to AH these days!? you may want to check it out.
My favorite flight simulators have to be the Combat Flight Simulator series produced by Microsoft. Excellent graphics and gameplay. I highly recommend the Pacific version of the simulator for anyone interested in flight sims.
I'm still making due with USAF (Super Pro mod), SFP1 amd F/A - 18 Iraq mod.

WWIIOL has a free trial right now.

Also, Believe that v1.19 will release with alot goody stuff in sometime next month or so on and I really can't wait!
Leatherneck,
There's usualy a couple "Welcome back soldier" promos through out the year.
LMK if your looking for a squad to hang with when you re-up with WWIIOL.
Lafayette (http://www.lafayettefederation.com/) :)
If not, on the Allied side, you can just PM "Fires", and I'll try and help you out.
If you haven't played it in a while, you'll be impressed with the changes. Look for the Africa Theatre to come out by the end of the year.
BTW Leatherneck, I grew up in a "Marine" family, (brother and brother in-law Marines) I've been to 29 Palms,
Lejuene, Pendleton, Parris Island and Quantico :) Hoorah S!

Seriously, When you said "Lafayette," mostly my memories came back that I have realize know your name "Fires" and I believe you have SENT me PM for asking me If I was new around here. I have sign up Free Trial like 2-3 month ago and If you remember well, then my game name is "Rafe35" or "Rafe." Just hoping that you might remember me because I believe we did have a chat during attacking the Germans while you was driving Stuart Tank and got hop in while you was on the way to the bridge if i remember correct.....argh.
I'll look up on Lafayette Website that I will let you guys know about it If I ever think of joining the clan and thanks for that link address (the memories too). Also, I am also grew up in a Marine Family, but man I never been Camp Lejuene, Camp Pendleton, Parris Island Depot, San Diego Depot, and Quantico yet, but again I'll joined the USMC when I get the chance.
Semper Fi, Fires!

Super Pro mod?
Super Pro mod?
Hello Marines, Super Pro has been described as a total makeover for USAF. Authored by slikk it adds a bunch of new aircraft, skins and missions. More info and the download can be found at McFly's Hanger here.

What would you consider the best flight sim around?
What would you consider the best flight sim around?
Hard question to answer, it depends on what you are looking for. For the hardcore flight sim fan the choices are.
Falcon 4
LO:MAC
for those who don't need ultrarealism try:
USAF
F/A-18
SFP1
Here is a website that most of the pilots hang out at, go to the forums
http://www.frugalsworld.com
They can answer more of your questions.
I haven't played Ill-2 sturmovick. Is it an arcadey game? or more of a true flight sim?

This sim is considered by most prop pilots as the best prop sim out there. If you want to fly prop jobs, this is the one that you want. Note to all who are considering flight sims, hyperlobby is the place where a lot of pilots fly against each other, sooooo...check it out at http://hyperfighter.sk/ . Some also fly at Gamespy arcade. Also should you want to join a virtual fighter squadron Frugals world has a section on squadron recruitment. Check that out at http://frugalsworld.com (http://frugalsworld.com/)

Which flight sims would you reccomend?
i recommend USAF. it's slightly dated, but it's a solid, accurate game. you can quickly set up missions, or start as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Air Force, and work your way up by completing missions. great flight sim!
