I haven't played Harpoon since the late 80's, but I loved it then and am glad to see it added to this board. I see that there are now several current versions available on the market. Could some of you that own/play those versions now advise me on which one to buy so I can get back to playing it again.

Many thanx.

Hi RavenStrike, take a look at this (http://www.war-forums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=270133&postcount=2) post by Sunburn.

I own Harpoon 3 and like it very much.

Cheers
Mark

I own both computer versions and enjoy them both equally. I also own the paper miniature rules version but never found an opponent. :OHNO:

From your timeline, I am guessing that you are familiar with the Harpoon version that is now referred to as the "Classic" series and your group screen probably looked similar to this:

The latest version of this series is the Harpoon Classic 2002 Gold. The HC2005 version release is just around the corner.

Don't be afraid to ask about the games. Everyone is happy to answer but it is like asking if you prefer a Jeep to an SUV. Both will get the job done but is sometimes just a matter of preference. More important is, "What are you looking for in a game?"

If you prefer to look for yourself, there are demos of both games available on the AGSI (http://www.advancedgaming.biz/) site. They can be a bit limited but are an excellent starting point.

Get them both. An extra $40-50 is a small price to get out of this dillema

I would get them both, as I own most versions of the Game since 1995.

As for the latest 2, Each has its 'skins', if you get both you will not be disappointed.
