I am having a problem.

I eliminate the event (no trigger) best guess the source. Load the file things work fine till the same error is generated later. No trigger that event. Start over, thing works a little longer than before and get the same error again.

I have done a clean install of COW, used the full patch 106, still get the same errors.

Turn the computer off wait 2 minutes, load the scenario, and get the same error.

I rewrote the scenario, run it and get the same problems.

The problem events are event activated with delays before the effect. They have been set up two ways and do not change the problem.

Six different events, each with a different delay, are triggered off of one event. Changed the sequence so 1 triggers 2, 2 triggers 3, 3 to 4, 4 to 5, 5 to 6, 6 to 7. Makes no difference the error is still there. Eliminate a trigger, close the missing link, the error is later.

Currently have the laptop running EA. Event 22 triggers 27 events and several others trigger eight or more. It is one way to test if Patch 106 is the problem. I have a good deal more testing I must do before I say that. I also intend to write the scenario under 1.04 and then take it up to 106 if it works.

My system is ME, with all the latest patches as of Saturday. Computer memory tests good, hard drives are without error, 448 MB Ram, 1962 MB total memory with 180 MB used. I have had no other problems with COW. Dumps are fine. Patch 106 has been installed 3 to 4 weeks. The problem was first noted Monday last week. I even did a system restore last Wednesday from the prior week.

Attached is the scenario in one version that is causing me problems. You are welcome to run it and see if the problem persists on other machines and operating systems.

Be back Friday – I hope.

The scenarios attached in the post above will not work as intended, having been permanently corrupted

Windows ME has a series of known problems with a number of DLL files. They include MFC42.DLL, IMM32.DLL KERNEL32.DLL. Best and first thing to do if you suspect a problem is to replace these files with new ones

Replacing KRNL386.EXE and deleting the SWAPFILE are not always wasted efforts.

Various programs will install their versions of the files above, not necessarily the newest or matching version. The files that came with ME are all dated 6/8/2000 5:00 PM.

Now I can TOAW again.

In all seriousness, tho, we appreciate you posting things like this, as there must be a new member along every couple weeks that has problems installing or running the game.

Glad you got it working!
