I am not yet familiar enough with how the game works to comment on the campaign aspect of it. In fact, I had not even realized there was a separate campaign mode until I was messing around earlier today. Can someone please outline exactly how this works? Can the campaign be played PBEM against another person? Is there a "grand campaign" of some sort that recreates the whole invasion/operation in its entirety?

When you play a campaign the game will give you anywhere from one to 3 or 4 "strategic" options to pick from. You select the one you like the best (in some cases there may only be one to select) and then your opponent does the same. The computer looks at the two selections and picks a scenario based upon those selections. There is a campaign tree somewhere but I've never bothered to look at it. You fight that scenario and then upon completion the computer gives each player another set of strategic options based upon the results of the last battle. Losses carry over from one battle to the next with some replenshiment (stragglers returning and replacements). This continues until one player has won the campaign. I've played two campaigns that ended after two battles and one that ended after four battles. They can be played PBEM and this is generally what I play most of the time when playing Gettysburg and Corinth. I would suggest that you get x number of points for winning a campaign, y number of points if you lose the campaign, and z number of points if it is a draw.

Mark covers the bulk of it, but just to be clear, you start the campaign from the "Campaign Game" icon in the program menu.

Also, if you start the campaign with the first selection it allows you to potentially play the entire invasion. And the better the Reb player does, the longer the campaign will last.

I've got two campaigns going now myself.
