View Full Version : Strange TOAW bug, nointro/nodelay

This is probably more appropriate for Talonsoft tech support but I thought I'd try here before getting myself into that (their tech support "message board" hasn't been updated in two years).

I ran TOAW once with the nointro flag set to speed up loading, and it seemed to work fine. The second time I ran it, however, something broke. Combat races by without pausing or giving me any reports (oddly like the effect nodelay produces). Obviously this is a bit of a problem. Running from the shortcut without the nointro switch (and with no other command line options) has no effect, nor does running the executable directly - TOAW still skips the intro and combat still runs at light speed.

I haven't changed any other settings (not that there are all that many in TOAW). Any idea what could be causing this, or how to fix it?

Someone sent you a turn with the Detailed Combat Reports turned off. You'll find it under Advanced Game Options. Be careful as you may have someone who is turning off the Advanced Game Options in your games, gaining recon info on you. Or, they may be innocent of nefarious intent and simply clueless...;)

Ah, thanks... weird that it randomly turned off that option. Also strange that I don't get the intro anymore but that's not exactly a bad thing :).

You can easily turn off the intro by choosing the following, from within the game: View/Options/Intro Cinematic/Do No Play. This way you don't have to mess with Command Line changes to your desktop shortcuts.
