View Full Version : Problem With TOWs???
Has anyone else encountered a problem with TOW equipped vehicles not firing their TOW missiles?
I have set up several test scenarios where M2s and M3s have clear LOS to targets but never launch their missiles. In each and every case, when looking at the weapon stats (in the targeting window), The TOW launcher is listed as "Error: Missile Accuracy=0". I have attached a screen print of this error below.
Any ideas/feedback as to whether this is a known bug or extremely poor resource utilization on my part :D
I have sent this question on to Scott as well.
Thanks,
Mike
Hi again Mike,
This has been a problem in the past. I had sent Scott my share of e-mails relating to just this problem. I know that he had been working on it and TOW preformance had gotten better. One of the problems with the program, it seems like we get something fix, move on, and break it again. Maybe that has happened with the new build. Continue to send Scott info on this. Let us know what Scott says about his.
Just FYI. I sent the following additional information to Scott this morning. I will post any feedback I receive from him.
Thanks,
Mike
Scott,
After some additional experimentation, I believe there is a problem with the TOW system. I created the scenario attached below to test TOW functionality. I created it as a two player hot-seat game to better control the variables. The password for both players is "test".
This scenario places a M3A2 Cav troop against a host of BRDMs (simple target practice). Even though the M3s have clear LOS to multiple targets throughout the game, they never once engaged with TOW missiles. When I would manually intervene and attempt to target a BRDM with a TOW, I would consistently hit the "error: Accuracy=0" message.
When you have some time, can you review the attached files and determine if the inability to fire TOWs is due to a bug or improper use by the player.
Thanks,
Mike
P.S. All test were done using the latest beta build available on your support site (build 201).
According to this email from Scott, it looks like he has fixed the TOW issue...
Hi Mike,
Thanks for your files and report. I was able to find the problem and
correct it. Essentially, it had to do with the sequence we were
performing
operations on the decimal accuracy value... at one point it was being
converted to an integer, and if the accuracy was small at that point,
it was
being "zeroed out.".
With the correction in place the TOW will fire, but its accuracy is
pretty
low - I think less than 5%. There is a lot of stuff in the firing
line.
Thanks again!

Has anyone had any luck with TOWs or other ATGMs working "as expected" in the latest build? While it is possible to have them fire now, I have yet to actually hit anything. Looking for feedback from others to help decide whether this is due to improper use or a bug....
Thanks,
Mike

Are you still having this though? I will try your tutorial and see what I think.

I can't tell whether there is still a bug with ATGMs or not. I have been able to fire TOWs in both the TOW Test scenario (attached earlier in this thread) and in my Tutorial scenario. However, as best as I can tell, none have ever hit anything, let alone kill a target.
Whether this is due to improper use on my part or yet another bug, I can't tell. Hopefully you and others will run some tests and provide your feedback.
Thanks,
Mike
I'm curious. Has anyone had a positive experience with ATGMs in the latest beta patch? After playing a half dozen games with build 210, I still have not hit a d%$# thing.
Thanks,
Mike
Nope, I haven't. ATGMs im my experience has never worked right. It is something that we need to keep in front of Scott. I am not so sure he is aware that ATGMs are not working. I sent him an e-mail on ATGMs last week.
