View Full Version : Question for the forum mods...
Do you think you folks could come up with some Navy type rank insignia? I feel kinda funny not having 3 crows and a rocker :cheeky:
And of course, for the rest of us Harpoon fanatics as well

Just pretend you are in the Marines and on duty with the Navy. :D
That would require changing the forum rank structure, I highly doubt that altering the entire boards format is going to happen. However, I could post this in the admin forum and see what they have to say about it.

Oh, no, I'm sure I'd be happy with just a single green or red hash mark, and after a while, a crow or two :) But having said that, I rather doubt I'd care to rise above Master Chief...would hate to take a demotion to Captain or Admiral or somesuch :cheeky:

I understand what you are talking about, however, I think I may have lost you somewhere...

I'm guessing the rank structure here is much like that of other boards, being based on either posting numbers, or actual rank in the site hiearchy. I actually made the post, on a bit of a fishing expedition, along with a bit of humor...thinking that you guys might wonder if having all us "squids", so to speak, might be a mistake :cheeky: . So, I thought I'd ask if us Pooners could get Navy rank avatars, like this:

Seriously, though, I'm not going to run off and pout in the corner, if you can't do it, either. Consider this humor, inter-service rivalry, if you may :whist:

Yep, this is something we have discussed at lenght and the current system isn't likely to change. This is an international club and we get requests all the time to put up WWII Wehrmacht rank, British Army rank, US Marine Corps rank, Red Army rank, etc, etc. It becomes a matter of pushing the forum too hard. The VBulletin software can handle it without any problems, but each new graphic that we integrate into the forum makes it more difficult for users on a dial up connection.
We have considered doing away with the rank completely and would probably do that before we would consider adding additional ranks. And yes, you rank is automatic and based on your current post count. It's just there to give the forum some flavor.

Ach... Its is just a (stupid) way to put people in boxes...
If that would be.... I like to be the ships-ape or cat whatever you like.... :whist: Do you think you folks could come up with some Navy type rank insignia? I feel kinda funny not having 3 crows and a rocker :cheeky:

I'm called Les the Sarge 9-1 by choice, and I could [not] care less what silly artificial forum rank is attached to my account here, it has zero value to me. Thus, by that statement, so too does the rank of anyone else here.
The only thing that attaches any value to a person's post, is the content of their post.

Herman! You are right! Or Leslie? :whist:
Who cares? As long as the content is ok.
