Most Harpooners will be familiar with Ragnar Emsoys excellent DB2000 database. Its one of the most accurate and complete collections of data available for a wargame. Its hosted at the HHQ site www.harpoonhq.com and apart from being used in Harpoon III scenarios it can be veiwed using the database editor. Another project that we have had running over at the HHQ for almost two years now is the Encyclopedia companion to the database. This aims to provide a (hopefully) convenient web-based way to view the DB2000 database. It is a work in progress as the database itself is constantly updated and refined but you can check it out here

Any comments and corrections are welcome and we are always looking for folks with a bit of time to spare and a passion for a particular platform or nation to provide some contributions.

cheers

Hi Daniel,

Welcome to WHQ. Is correct to say that possession of a playing copy of Harpoon3 is not required in order to open and read the Database with the DB editor by Jon Reimer?

Some folks might simply like to have access to the knowledge without playing the game. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

and finally from one of your own posts

I know that you are an HCG player but another source of information that you could try is the Harpoon3 DB2000. It is hosted by HarpoonHQ at: http://www.harpoonhq.com/harpoon3/scenarios

Grab the Harpoon3 DB editor written by Jon Reimer here: http://jlreimer.home.netcom.com/

I don't play with DBs much but I am pretty certain that you do not need to have or know how to run Harpoon3 in order to use the Harpoon3 database. If you are comfortable with the HCG DB editor, you should be able to use the H3 DB editor as well since they were written by the same individual.

I think that about covers it.
