This report was just submitted by Freek Schepers on the newest scenario posted by the newest Harpoon3 designer, Frans Koenz:
Played this new scen from the Venezuelan side.
Its a great scen; I started by launching 3 groups of F16s in foursomes, to have some defence against AMRAAM armed counterparts and to hunt for the surface group. Two F-16s and an E-3 were plotted; One of my groups lost 3 F-16s in rapid succession against AMRAAMs but pushed in on 'burner to kill the E-3! My other two group flanked the air battle and searched for the surface units. The neutrals prevented positive ID but eventually some Doorman and Zeven Provincien frigates were plotted using multiple ESM tracks to pin down and mark the group. I did lose 4 more F-16s which wandered into the SM-2 envelope!
I immediately launched all my Exocet-armed Mirages, some ECM planes and some more fighters and executed a multi-axis air attack. CAP around the Dutch TF was light and all my Mirages launched and RTB'd. However, no hits were registered and the Dutch TF course and speed were unchanged. I used the airstrike to confirm the course of the TF and moved my sub to intercept. At 10 knots using snorkel she could just make the intercept.
Meanwhile my lone escort to the munition ship was sunk by sub-launched Harpoons. The sub was later intercepted by my own sub, but the Dutch Mk48s proved longer ranged than my Seale. Scrap one Ven Sub! The now lone munition ship boxed the suspected sub position and merged with the three patrol boats racing East.
I calculated the proper point at which TF Bolivar could intercept the Dutch TF, but not yet be inside Harpoon range. At the proper time, I arranged to have multiple axes of F-16s and ECM planes for recon. CAP was heavier now, with 4 F-16s and a second E-3. Not sure if the F-16s had AMRAAMs, as I could close the E-3 and kill it and at the same time launch Otomats. These sank 2 Doorman frigates and a Ro-Ro ship, and emptied the Zeven Provincien's missile magazine. At the same time a flight of Hercules overflew TF Bolivar and were shot down. Some Chinooks later met the same fate.
TF Bolivar turned South to stay out of Harpoon range. My heroic sub then manoeuvred right into the middle of the formation and destroyed every remaining ship, while evading 3 torps herself.
Unfortunately, my munition ship plus patrol boats ran into another sub (this one was never detected) and 4 harpoons damaged but did not sink her. She still made 18 knots and made port right after an F-16 attack destroyed my HQ on the ABC islands.
Great game, I lost over 15 F-16s, a number of Freedom fighters, several ECM planes, a sub, a Lupo class, and several helo's. I killed 6 F-16s, 2 AWACS, 2 F-27s, and all the ships.
Just one small comments, the ref points promised in the order for my ammo ship were missing.
