I load Don's map and this is what it looks like, any ideas?

Never mind "terrain shading"

Hi Herc

I tried to replicate the problem using Don's map but got no further than picking units in the editor and was then stopped dead by a c++ error and a frozen screen.

Eventually after trial and error I got round the problem by not accepting the included CAI and continued to complete the scenario (including the Toggle Elevation Shading which worked ok.)

I’ve no idea why the Elevation Shading doesn’t work for you, just another hair pulling inconsistency in POA2 :(

Try reloading Don’s Custom Symbol Set that may be worth a try?

If that doesn’t solve it, perhaps Don can shed some light on the problem?

It's actually working the way it is supposed to!

Hex-based maps work slightly different than the topographic variety. What you are seeing in you screenshot is only the secondary and alternate terrain. To see the base terrain, go to your options menu and turn of the elevation shading. All will suddenly become clear.

Sorry for the confusion, once I turned on the elevation shading it worked.

On another note I have experienced no C++ errors during setup :cheeky:

I have not been keeping up with the more recent versions so it is possible that the changes have introduced some type of error. Is anyone else getting errors with maps made with this symbol set?

Don

I believe the few player testers that have stuck with POA2 tend to leave the editor alone and concentrate on the main programme. There have been enough bugs and user requests to keep us all occupied. Also the general consensus amongst the testers was to leave custom scenarios, including map making until the game was fixed.

In answer to your query I’ve not heard of any problems with your Symbol Set or Maps for that matter. It just appears to be limited to my specific system, not unusual with POA2 and as I mentioned previously I found a work around.

I know you are extremely busy running Warfare HQ, so no excuse is required for “not keeping up with the more resent changes”. Just keeping an eye on us is quite sufficient, THANKS!
