MBT is cool. That the future of MBT includes being Win based makes this an even cooler game.

Kudo's to SPCAMO.

I made this post because I've learned from an opponent that restarting an MBT file causes Windows to freeze.

I was wondering if anyone else has encountered this and if not exactly then what other similar instances have caused this?
[I'm not talking about the case of an opponent replaying his turn or running it in another instance of MBT or worse who writes you saying that the zip file you sent them has been terminated because it is going to corrupt their Windows !].

I recall I did run into this problem when uncertainty existed over whether a zip had been mishandled or did I forget to end the turn only?

I had mis-handled the zip and not renamed it [they get overwritten when I put my opp's turn into the same folder hence the turn sent out is still my own.] However, since then I have renamed every file in and file out so it has not recurred and try to keep the original send on the email servers just in case [backup].

I recall however running into MBT freezing but I failed to figure out what caused them and I have no note to retest the situation with.

To my knowledge the only time a security screen appears for KOBs is when the wrong version is used to open a file - since I do not use OOB or KOB editors or MobHack.

Cant say I`ve ever had the PC freeze on me. (well, not due to MBT anyway)

What I have had happen occasionally, is upon electing to watch the replay of my opponents turn, the game crashs back to the desk top.

I then restart the game, but don`t watch the replay, and everything is then ok. Strange ?!?!

Yeah I've heard that one too. It does seem to still have some of that crashing when a graphic runs depending on the user's window/computer makeup.

A few weeks ago I twice got freezing in MBT and had to restart since even taskmanager would not come up. But I never succeeded in setting up the same circumstances so I didn't figure out what caused it; hence with no notes I don't even remember now what it was that I had done that might have caused it.

However, I did learn that once I get a crash with MBT, if I leave the game files in the game and do not replace them, then the open and closes number does not change and in turn my opponent, does not get a security message about this either. I am almost 100% sure though that this only applies to forgetting your password and then restarting the game after looking it up [ I have a Doc file in Word that lists my opps/games/ver/turn number/password etc from 1 to 14- so you will be 15 now Dita ..]. If you don't replace the game files your opens and closes don't change. I did also learn along the way that if you don't get your password right in 3 attempts on a setup turn that the game will go to the first turn in its next 3 password requests and that we cannot setup our forces after that. At the time I had only 4 passwords in use so I could actually open the game on try 4 or 5 [plus one to misspelling a word]. I learned that the hard way and had to start the game with everything in one long line down the maps edge.

Lastly, if the game crashes for a legitimate reason leaving the files in there will not change the open/close number. We all know of course that if you replay a turn whether you delete the turn files or simply reopen after crashing the game? [hmmmmmmmmmm I haven't checked that now that I mention it] that the opens go up by one and for each save the close goes up by one and your open gets a security message about non-matching numbers.
Reinstalling MBT even after a format produces the similar result [a security message on opens and closes] although the numbers may be correct on open and close.

I've got to go and check that thing that I mentioned.

I think alot of these problems are related to the DOS environment SPMBT is still stuck in. Hoepfully, once the migration of SPMBT is made to Windoews this will become a thing of the past.
