2 new games will be present, that will not have been released to the general public yet.

John Tiller and several members of the design teams will be present, so far representing the Panzer & Modern Campaigns games, Early American Wars games & Napoleonic games.

Free games will be given out as door prizes, as well as other items.

And then of course many hours of solid gaming time either in titles you are familiar with, or new games you want to try.

So come on and join us for the First Tiller Con, of what is hopefully going to be an annual affair. Just register (50% deposit on ticket prices) so we know you are coming and can prepare - http://www.hist-sdc.com/con/cost.html

Too bad it's far from me or I'd be there for sure...

We've currently got people coming in from Canada, Texas, California, etc. With some of the cheaper air fares on lines like JetBlue it's not too bad if you can come out and into a major city. Flying into the DC area and then driving down isn't that big of a stretch.

Easily said, I know, but it promises to be a blast...and unless you have a lot of other gamers living close by it's the only chance you'll get to have a LAN party with historical wargamers.

What kind of turn out are you expecting for this event?

As things stand now, somewhere in the 50 to 60 range. When I ran my initial poll looking for interest though I had over 140 responses prior to pulling it. So, it could potentially get higher as we get closer. The magic number to go forward with it was 50 though, and we have met that.

I would assume that if this first year goes well, subsequent years would draw larger crowds. Time will tell though...

I can say from my experiance though that gathering with a bunch of guys that have the same interest is a lot of fun in and of itself, but when you throw a bunch of computers in there too, it gets a lot better. (I organized 2 reunions for the ACWGC in '01 & '02) And multiplayer in these games is cool. 2 or 3 guys per side really makes the game roll along quite quickly, as all can do their actions at the same time.

I hope it is a success. Unfortunately, due to the dates & the location I simply cannot attend. Seriously, I would enjoy meeting JT, Glenn S, Rich & all the others so I am extremely bummed. I hope maybe next time the dates will work out & you will choose a more central (US) location like Chicago, Kansas City or St. Louis perhaps.

Hey Danny - give it some more thought - Lachute, Quebec isn't too far.

I'm going to fly from Calgary to Ottawa - spend the night at Blackies and we're going to drive down - Richmond is a days run from Ottawa, all be it a long day. But it sure will be neat to meet the guys - all of you.

Hell, I've never meet John Tiller myself so it outta be interesting.

Glenn

One day I hope to meet all of the HPS staff, that's for sure.

As far as location goes, I chose Richmond because this is where I live. It would be next to impossible for me to put an event together like this hundreds of miles away...just no way to visit the locations and talk to the venders in person. So, if it's a success, it will most likely be here again in future years, unless someone wants to take over the administration part of it...which wouldn't hurt my feelings. :-)

Wow - man who knows - maybe -- well I am considering it - based on those dates - but I have to work with my schedule. Looks good though. :smoke:

Thx Rahamy - I am going to have to make a point to book mark this site and see if I can swing this -- it sounds pretty cool - if only to meet a few people I have met on the boards...

and probably to get my butt kicked by a few from theblitz.org :) since I had some personal issues last Summer that caused me to go MIA on a load of PBM scenarios. . .

anyway - - - if I got the money -probably will... will look into flying in from KC and see what happens... sounds like a winner really.

~Steve (ahh hell I better shut up lest the Admins here see this - and make me some sort of site ambassador ... kidding - think that might be cool as well -- er shutting up now :D
