Trying to get an idea of how many people are actively playing and how many send bug reports.

Thanks

You need another answer choice. I bought POA-2 to support Scott in his endevour but knew that it wasn't ready for prime time. I have it on my computer and have the most recent update loaded. I haven't played with it more than the 30-60 minutes I spent on the day I first installed it; which was months ago. I have been waiting for it to get more stable. I think that I will probably start playing with it this week and will most likely submit bug reports as I find them.

I bought POA2 when it first came out. I have stuck with it ever since. I am actively playing the game and send bug reports to Scott.

I still have a lot of faith in this one and I really want to see if reach its potential.

I also bought POA2 when first released. I have the most recent update installed. I always play a few turns after a release, but haven't sent any bug reports to Scott since a few at the beginning stages. I continue to have high hopes for this sim.

Guy's,

I know its a lot to ask, but I am sure it would help move the game forward quicker if you could report any bugs you find. I guess the only caveat to add is please make sure you are using the most recent update. The most current issue is version 2.2(beta) Build 201.

many thanks

Up until a few months ago, I was playing pretty actively (mostly fooling around with scenario editor) until real-life issues got in the way - I've got the current build installed, just haven't had time to get back to it - but do plan on doing so soon.

I spent hundreds of hours testing and sending in reports when POA2 was first released- thirty hours on one weekend alone. I had waited for years for it and I wanted it to work that badly. I've given up on it now- I've got the last couple of patches, but haven't even bothered to load them up (why bother when another patch keeps showing up every couple of days, anyway?) If HPS wants to pay me a living wage to test things for them, I'll be happy to do it. But, getting one free game and my name in tiny print in the back of a manual is not enough compensation for time invested.

On a lighter note, I'm still playing PITS and enjoying it hugely. It has got to be one of the best wargames to ever come out...

I would also like to add that suggestions and questions to what you are seeing are also really important. If enough people ask the same question or make tee same suggestion Scott will be forced to address it.

By far this is the most in depth simulation, but it lacks I feel on how it portrays and how the player interacts with it. For example I feel the player should have more feel that they are interacting with their forces in regards to mission planning.

I also think as a group if we want this simulation to survive and thrive active discussions here can be of great help. Once the new manual is out maybe we can understand more of what Scott has intended in regards to gameplay. Active discussions here could then provide more concise and well thought recommendations to Scott, and also provide more in sight from each of us to each other on how to accomplish something with what is available.

I fully agree with you Herc. The more constructive feed back and ideas Scott gets the more we are likely to see them in the game. I know from practical experience that Scott does listen to his customers and if enough people ask for a mod the more chance there is that the mod will make its way into POA2.

I’ve pretty much followed the same path as Gary, in from the beginning and as long as Scott supports the Simulation, in to the end.

I'm still playing and have been since release. I post the odd bit of feedback to Scott and to be fair he has implemented a fair few of my suggestions (such as quicker unit selection after a click, and reduced dialog windows between moves).

I played through scenario 9 yesterday but around turn 4 or 5 I got an access violation (with the latest patch). In this game I didn't issue any orders as the AI seemed to be doing a good job up to that point.

For me the game now seems to flow faster and artillery now seems to work. I definetley have a warmer feeling about this game and I believe if you forget about the high level command aspirations, that the game is nearly there.

I recently bought the Flashpoint Germany game and have found that although I enjoy it, it lacks the detail that I require of a modern simulation. Also the AI for single player games is quite poor, so I found myself comming back to POA2 which for me gives me a greater feeling of a modern battle.

I agree with you here, the game has come a long way. I am playing sceenrio 4 and haven't had any major troubles (I have had some access violation problems but the save game would not duplicate them and I was able to move on) till around turn 20 of 40.

My flanking forces are sitting back doing nothing (these are controlled by the AI and I have no control over them), and I have learned that when having the AI issue orders I need to click "No" on whether I want them implemented right away.

I had a LOS and FOW issue, but it seems the LOS tool lacked infromation on smoke. Artillery has been great except for this issue: I had units with orders and then they were given move orders by the AI. When they did this their bombard orders got stuck until I manually went and deleted them. Then the AI was able to once again use them.

The AI though has some work to go I think. Scout's are not scouting and there is some other issues I need to test yet.

I agree on Flashpoint. I have it also and playing as NATO the AI is a total wimp. Playing as WP in a email game I lost big time so I think it is a combination of balancing and the AI. Though from the Forums they are looking into and a patch should address the issues. I do like the ability of having units report in choosing how often and what they are to report. Also the communication's listed where the OOB is during a turn is nice to.

I just reinstalled the game and latest beta patch this weekend. I hope to begin experimenting/playing more in the near future. I also expect that the number of bug reports I send to Scott will be considerably fewer than when POA2 was first released.

I play it and sends bug reports. But I must confess that a couple of other games and my miniatures have taken away a lot of POA2 time....

I purchased the game yesterday and played it all night long. After many c++ errors, table index out of bounds and total crashes I guess I'll have to join the short list of people sending in bug reports because this is the kind of game I have been looking for years.

Hi,

Have you downloaded and installed POA2 version 2.2 Build 201 from HPS's web site?

Have you downloaded and installed Build 201

That was the first thing I did after installing. The "About" dialog shows that I have an up to date build.
