Hi,
About two months ago I started some PBEM games. As soon as I received the first turns, I got error messages and critticals.
The reason was the difference in East/westfront versions.
Probably most people play with Eastfront v 1.03 and Westfront v1.05 and have the campaign discs or battle-pack cd's or play from the W@W (world at war) CD. In any case compatible versions to play PBEM.
In my case I only have EF 1.02 and WF 1.05 but no battle pack or nothing. Incompatible to play with those who have all the right stuff. There must be many more like me that have been disappointed to find their versions outdated?
For those I have news. (Or they already know this for years but hell I'm trying to help)
On the Blitz (blitzgrieg wargamers club, www.theblitz.org) there are mulltiple patches and it works to upgrade your versions to whatever you want.
I have managed to open the PBEM turns that have been crashing for months. I haven't checked all the patches available, but for me I found the patched I needed. EVen to be compatible with EF v1.03! I hope that this information can help others too.
Anyway, I'm back in the game so Full-Auto or Meliz, let me know if you still want to continue what we started a long time ago...
