What do you guys think?

Ooh...
The new engine will allow us to do WWII, sci-fi, current, fantasy, Civil War, whatever... and do it without it taking years to release.

I take all such announcements with a large dose of the proverbial salt ;)
Heard it all before
I think the threads were getting too carried away with concerns over Borg-ism. That's the least of my concerns. It's an inevitable consequence when one has command at all levels. What's the alternative, random AI command or massively multi-player?

KG has been enjoying our multiplay style of play very much, via PBEM games. Whether it be a battle, operation, or now infusing that style into a trial Mini campaign designed by KG_ThorsHammer. Having to rely on another person covering your flank for example, offers a level of realism and role playing that is very imaginative and fun. We use our forum to track team communications as well as our Teamspeak server for weekly team battle briefings.
A true multiplay system built into CMX2 would be a war gaming dream come true, imo.
PBEM not considered a critical feature:

Well that's that then.

All this speculation by a few over a game that is many months away. Me I will wait and see, PBEM may be there may not. Maybe it wont be needed? maybe the game will be so good that you wont miss pbem and have the odd onliner in between playing solo games that are mindblowing. And maybe it will be absolute Pants. Why worry about it now, maybe the Sky will fall, I dont know.......

I can't blame them for not wanting to say too much before the product is ready. It is a business after all.
