Does infantry fire on a pillbox or bunker apply any amount of suppression on the bunker? I know tank fire does pretty good at this. Any thoughts on this?

In my experience, inf fire has no effect.

Yes, I have noticed the best tactic is to try to use cover and terrain to get around the bunker and then close assault from outside of it’s fire arc. However I do believe that if you can’t get around it that if you get close enough to use grenades or satchel charges you can get lucky sometimes and land one through the firing slit!
Ouch!! :surprise:

It is almost impossible to get flame thrower close enough if you have to approach from the front but they work nicely too! (In the words of the unnamed private in SPR “Let em burn!”)

Just one question. In CM, does a FT have any effect on a concrete pillbox from outside the 'covered arc'?

Not sure, can anyone speak to this? I think they might since bunkers are supposed to be more vulnerable from behind. In other words force the door and toss a grenade or flame em.

You can't suppress bunkers but you can just fire a smoke round in front of it to render them incapable of attacking.

I've noticed that you need to be a certain range for the inf to use their satchel charges or grenade bundles when attacking pillboxes from behind. If your too close they just sit there, I'm guessing this is to prevent them from taking damage from their grenades which doesn't make sense since their tossing them inside the pillbox. :hmmm:

In playtesting a large operation I designed, I discovered that a few Russian ATR teams will eventually knock out a pillbox after about 3-4 turns, depending on how many hits you score. I estimated it takes about 15-20 hits.

Are they throwing the grenades and charges in, or as I thought blowing off the back door. If theyre blowing the door off they dont want to be too close! I know I wouldnt.

That exact situation happened to me the other night playing solo. 2 of my squads flank the bunker and attack from behind at close range. 3 meters? Not sure. The thing is the explosives went well I knocked it out. The next thing I know a "berserk" German crew jump out and in the ensuing CLOSE COMBAT one of my good order full strength crack squads takes HEAVY casualties and is routed. The krauts were killed in the process!! :surprise:

Talk about defending to the last man. That totally took me by surprise! I can only imagine a buch of desperate Germans emerging, screaming and spraying with sub machine guns! :surprise:

Yet another reason this game rocks!
