Scott,
The latest version is much better. I actually finished scenario 5 tonight with 1 C++ error that didn’t affect game play. Some questions and thoughts:
1. Unit Stacks: It can be hard to tell that more than one unit is at a location, can this be helped. You can put a mouse over but being able to just look and see that more than one unit is there especially when enemy would be great. This would definitely help when you stumble across a unit and do not know it is there until you are right on top of them. I also think it would be nice if another way of selecting units could be designed. As it is now with the new adjutant function you have no idea who you are assigning orders to. It would be nice if you could right click on a stack, a sub menu of available units would then be displayed and when a unit is selected the normal right click menu could appear. Or some such idea. As it is now if you have a bunch of units here and you select unit info you have to go through the whole stack, and this can be a real pain.
2. The “X” for kills on the map should be changed to something a little bit more noticeable.
3. Close Combat: I had units on top of enemy units and the enemy unit was a sighted-5 contact and DF was happening but no Close Combat. Yet if the unit passed through a hex with the enemy unit then close combat was reported.
4. SOP’s: Again had an enemy unit sighted-5 and had reaction orders set to any incoming DF to hold position, ignore SOP/Fire at will and max ROF yet the units would not shoot at the incoming DF.
5. The C++ error happened after I checked a unit status and then closed out 3 or 4 detachments and after I closed out the last one I got the C++ error. Game continued on fine. Sorry no save game.
Again this has come much farther than when first released and is actually worth playing now.
