Me and my dad put our collective Hobbytown gift cards together and bought this monster a few days ago... I was skeptical but it turns out to be a very fun game! Not to mention it totes like 724 pieces its like Risk, Shogun, and Axis and Allies crammed together and given Red Bull. They are working on an expansion to give the players more (do we need them?) figures and such and expand the rules heavily. The mapboard is huge and has artwork done by their art person that is just truly amazing... everything around the edges of the board has a tie back to history and the four corners of the board represent four different ages and have little parts of that history and the major changing element of that age (like the Printing Press) the artist when into detail on the far left of the board with a Mayan engraving that represents their number system... except he actually put the number of days from 0 A.D. to make the date he initially conceived the artwork. Its a great game, though it may take awhile to play and you can definetely make house rules for it.

That is NOT the Civilization board I remember playing.
Still, that one looks quite nice.
Looks can be decieving though.
I really enjoyed the way the earlier design played. Guess it is no longer marketed.

Yeah I remember reading in Civ 1 (the original way back when) manual that CIvilization was a French Card Game... The British got hold of it and transferred it to English and then later made the original boardgame and then Microprose got Sid Meier to work on it and the rest is history. (Pun intended)
This is not the original version. Itīs based on the Civilization3 PC-game and is very different. Havenīt played it, but itīs good they say. The original ends at the late iron age or something where this one goes up to 2050 like the cpu-version.

I thought the Avalon Hill version was better but Eagle did a good job nonetheless. Does anyone know when the Pirates game is coming out?
