View Full Version : Any Conflict between XP Service Pack 2 and TOAW?

I am going to finally install Windows XP Service Pack 2 but have been nervous about it messing with TOAW.

Anyone know whether there are any problems or if it's smooth sailing?

i have xp with sp2 and toaw cow 1.04 everything is running ok
now i speak only for myself

I'll wait a day or two to see if there are any bad stories and then I'll cross my fingers and press "install!"

I have SP2, and I know Shane does as well. It has no effect on TOAW. Now, OTHER things are a different story LOL.

Eric, I had installed SP2 but yanked it within a few hours. Although all the games were fine, my problem was with my internet connection. My speed dropped from ADSL to a crawl. After contacting my ISP they had advised me to remove SP2 and after I did, everything was back to normal. I still don't have it installed.

You guys are nuts, lol.

No, SP2 lets TOAW run fine, but nothing else seems to. The SPs are basically all just security stuff, and if you know how a firewall works, and run your own AV, you don't really have any need for this stuff whatsoever. It has caused endless troubles for me, and I hate it.. *grrrr*!!!

Only if you have an emulator program.

Well I installed it and I am having no trouble with anything.

I hope i din't just curse myself by saying that... like saying, "jeez the traffic is pretty light!" and then...traffic jam!

Go into the control panel, add/remove software and you can remove it from there.

Duh, well I guess I know why I had such a hard time with my computer classes in school!

One more question. TOAW-COW hung up on the install and some errors popped up. It was suggested I turn the hardware acceleration on my video card down to basic. How do I go about that? I've looked for hours and haven't had any luck.

I managed to install the game in compact mode, and have played a little, but I'd like to be able to do the full install without any errors.
