Be advised that the SF drivers are installed as soon as you insert the disc into your drive. It will never notify the user that is being installed and no progress window will ever appear.

Good list, now I know why I never encountered it, I've never played a single one of these. :D

I believe Full Spectrum Warrior uses it as well, cause after playing it, I noticed my CD-RW was acting up

Hmmm.... I have a few of those sitting in my 'to be played' pile... maybe they won't make it to the hard drive after all.
OK How to get rid of it? I played the Fire Chief game from Monte Cristo, so I know it's lurking there somewhere.....
At any rate, I haven't notice any untoward behavior of my machine that couldn't be chalked up to my ignorance, YET!

Marines, perhaps you should copy your post from the SP board into here, showing everyone where to look in their Device Manager to see if it's in their computer.

Yeah, it's a good list of things to avoid!

Jim, I assume you mean the Golem Labs board.
How to find them:
Click on the control panel then the system icon, hardware tab and device manager.
At this point you should have four options at the top of the sub-window, click on View and the select Show Hidden Devices.
You should now see a new icon labeled Non-plug And Play Drivers, click that and scroll down until you see the Star Force drivers.
DO NOT MANUALY DELETE THESE DRIVERS

Thank you for the heads up Marines.
This just infuriates me to know end. It smells of hypocrisy to me that it’s ok for them to install hidden drivers.

Ha! Everyone including myself have been accused of being a user of pirated software just because I oppose this APS! I'm sorry but I don't burn games I buy them.
Just don't be to vocal in your opposition or you might receive the same label.

The last game I bought was Battles in Normandy and it was a digital download. I have my registration number so who needs copy protection?

It's the fact that the games that have this APS never inform the user that this software is being installed. Star Force has and does cause minor to serious system problems from a nonfunctioning CD-RW/CD-R/DVD-R/DVD-RW drive to a complete system crash. My own CD-RW drive will no longer burn any CD's.
This software is garbage John. Maybe thats why so many petitions and websites have been formed to ban this software.

And from what I have read in the trade journals I don't disagree. Nevertheless the last wargame I bought is BiN. It was a digital download with a serial number and has no CD/DVD based copy protection. The next wargame I buy will probably be the Falklands expansion to Lock 'n Load.
OT
Im interested in Lock and Load. If they ever do WW2 or WW1 Im going to buy it.

Which of course is why I like it, because they hopefully will stick to the non-WW2 stuff (I have ASL for that). There is very little coverage of the Falklands, Foreign Legion in Africa, and other guerrilla wars including Vietnam.
I have a interest in Vietnam but not enough to buy a boardgame and invest the time in.
If I have an interest in the War which the game is based on then my imagination fills in the blanks.

On that note there is a new war game coming out in the near future that is based on the war in the Falklands.
It may be the same exact one you are talking about. :hmmm:

In this case I'm hoping that the blanks of modern forces like the Foreign Legion and guerrilla war battles will be filled in by Lock 'n Load, while all the WW2 blanks have been filled in by ASL.

It grows everyday.
The list I posted is not up to date so you should be very careful.
