View Full Version : My Tactics
Basically ive bought around 36-40 or So Stuart II's
they will engage at close range - will all the dust and smoke they be shooting at around 10-40 metres
the churchills priests and Mark II CS crusaders will support with HE, AP and smoke.
I imagine i would outnumber the germans 3-1 or so buying in this manner
if i lost 30% of my forces im happy
its an expected loss for a total victory
The desert map is good for this.
As german's i suggest players leave some forces covering there armour or buy some light tanks to prevent this stuart charge.
I recommend this tactic for expereinced desert players
Also i recommend using crusaader CS II tanks
smoke is a useful tool
never underestimate it

How many tanks total are you going in with. My German force is packing 34 Pz IVG (Veteran and Regular), 8 Marder II (Crack) and 1 Marder II early (Veteran), 43 tanks total.
The only tanks I really am concerned about are the Churchill IVs, anything else I can knock out fairly easily.
i think it was just over 48-50 or so tanks i bought with 5k
with smoke and dust i should be able to close on him very fast
and in the lack of LOS should be able to kill them
well see how it goes
I personally think though the germans have a major advantage with penetration ability but well see
good luck to us

Good luck, Gaz,
Try and use your 57mm guns in stand-off positions, these guns will penetrate any armour the Germans have at fairly long range.
Keep us posted on the progress of your victory!

Am I the only a-hole? I have purchased dozens of Grants and a half dozen of Stuarts. I have lost two of my Stuarts and none of the Grants so far.

Nope, I think a couple acres of Grants is a very good buy. If I were British I would probably go for Churchills because of their armour and guns. My second choice, but sentimental favourite, is the Grant. then the Shermans.
Crush your opponent,....utterly destroy them!!

Well I decided to go with approx. 12 Marder II's and 4 PzIV's in over watch along the back ridge on the axis side. I have 4 platoons of PzIIIJ's & 1 platoon of PzIV's closing on the flags. (I have found that the III's seem to survive close combat better then the IV's ...at least when I use them.) Contact is imminent.
The dust of the enemy is advancing. The majority of my opponents thrust seems to be coming from my right.

Judging from the numbers you have it looks like you have about 32 tanks. I'm guessing they have veteran or crack crews.
If the Brits are coming from your right get as many of your Marders and Mk IVs on the ridge to the right of the German side but left of the palm trees. You should be able to hammer away at the Brits from over 1000 meters.
A good area for about 4 tracks is just forward of the set up area in the centre. The long narrow ridge that runs down the center of the map has hull down positions at the German end that gives one a line-of-sight to the right and to the left. Be careful not to get too close with your big gun tanks,...even Stuarts can knock out a Mk IV at close range.
Let us know how the Mk IIIs work out. I abandoned their use since they have problems killing the Churchills, Shermans and the Lee/Grants, but I do miss their armour.
Good luck, Norad. :salute:

Almost for got to mention a reserve platoon of III's guarding the axis flag in the depression, and platoon acting as left flank guard as well. Also you are correct that I mixed the force with crack and veteran for the most part but I might have threw in a few regulars to pad the #'s a bit.
Also the PzIV platoon on overwatch duty can be moved up if my PzIII's need some extra punch. Hopefully I've got my self covered. I will report back once the fight is joined and I have some battle results.

"Almost forgot to mention a reserve platoon of III's guarding the axis flag in the depression"
Don't waste a whole platoon on this small flag, rather, wait until you have a gun damage tank or a Marder that has run out of AP ammo. Then have one of these tanks move (reverse) to this position and claim the points for the flag.
The Left-
At the main objective area is a small 'shelf' to the west (German side) of the road that makes a perfect HD position for up to about 6 tanks. There is another good HD position just to the right of the southern (right hand) flag, close in to the palms below the hill. It will hold a single tank and looks diagonally (to the NE) into part of the small British valley. To the left of the big depression, up on the slopes are plenty of other HD position that stretch all around the valley and allow the Germans a view into the low ground.
The Right-
The best positions on the German right are:
1) Right of the Palms just in front of the set up area, space for a platoon of tanks on high ground that allows a view all the way across the low ground to the large plateau.
2) A medium size hill in the centre right that will hold two platoons. From here you can dominate the entire right flank.
3) The central east-west ridge. Four tanks can scoot there in two turns and see over the low ground to the right, the main central plateau and some areas of the British valley on the left. As a cover for the last stand on the objective this is a good spot as well. Some caution as the range is some 400-500 metres closer to the enemy positions.
Good luck,
