I'd like to offer myself as a field commander here, however if Waape would care to fight the battle, I dont have any problem letting him fight it. He has fought all the town battles so far, perhaps he'd like to see it finished?

No, I am fed up with this senseless butchering there.   This new guy (danstrudestrucc or something like that) just joined, I thought we should give him a try. If you agree, contact him!

No problem, I also think it is more secure than with somebody else we dont even know. After all, this is one of our decisive battles.

:(

Well I sent the rebel (Dita) an email a day ago,and he has not even bothered to reply yet.
Maybe we should look for an alternate Rebel to fight this battle?

Well folks we are finally underway, however as alot of my force are alocated as reinforcements in this battle ,they may never arrive(reinforcements dont always make it to the battle)

So depending on what the rebels have in the field now will decide the fate of this one most likely.

In any event we exchanged alot of infantry fire and each side has lost a half dozen or so.I set all my mortars to go off on top of him and that should slow him up abit.

Found it strange that some of the forces that had previously engaged rebels last turn were able to make it here and not all of them.

Skirmisher
21 Dec 04, 16:12
Some fire exchanged,I lost 3 men.

Some of the reinforcements arrived, some didn't.
Of what did arrive, most will be of no use to us in this battle.
6th and 7th compaines arrived way out of position in the top of the map and will not be a factor in this battle.
The purchased Mobile Support Platton did arrive in the south on the roadway so those troops will be used.
There is no sign of 1st and 2nd recon sections.
So they will also not be a factor.

Mortar fire should be landing on the enemy shortly.

alot of my force are alocated as reinforcements in this battle ,they may never arrive(reinforcements dont always make it to the battle)They should all have a 100% chance to arrive on the designated turn. Check the roster and it should say what turn they are due. I believe they were all set at Turns 2 and 3.

Skirmisher
21 Dec 04, 21:21
Yes the recon sections arrived as promised. They are now on the map. They should be able to get into the action before it all over,as they to showed up out of position.
Aaah well such is cyber war I guess.

More fire exchanged a few are killed on each side.We did lose one rpg-7 team that got killed by a mmg unit in the southern area.
The enemy now controls the mayors office, though my mission states to take it I realize that might not be possible as its in a good defensive position.
All squads that have approached it so far have been shot up and forced to retreat.I'll wait and see if the mortars can soften them up before I try again.
As our Pro Government army is rather thin at this time I will conserve troops rather than waste them.
Let the rebels come.Either way it wont be finished on this turn I feel.
I moved what few reinforcements I could into position to back up the defensive line.

Aaah well such is cyber war I guess. Please keep that thought for when we begin planning/designing the next Combat Campaign especially regaring Map sizes and how far away reinforcements should be from the fighting so they can arrive in time to join the fray and contribute.

The AT platoon had no problem finding there way to the battle.

I'm planning on being a grunt next time . ;)

The situation is not good, the rebels seem to have more combat power in the area and have terrain advantage. They are shooting the hell out of my troops and I cant even see them, lol. We lost one MT-LB.

Apparently we will now be fighting a defensive battle, and it looks to me like there will be no capture of the mayors office.

One advancing rebel unit to the north was stopped short by the incoming companies and recon sections, but they are in no position to stop the mad rebel advance in the north of the town.

My mortars didnt seem to do anything. :surprise:

Is this still going?

Skirmisher
02 Jan 05, 18:04
After my opponent took the holidays off from wargaming here it is again.
We are doing very poorly here due to the fact that my troops didnt follow thier orders.
The rebels are advancing everywhere. Where do they get all this combat power? lol
Maybe we should just cede the table to them.

Rebels have advanced unimpeded in the north of the town area,my HQ unit (me) may even be killed because of our incomplete defense here.At least that would put me out of my misery.

We lost several more men but all this is irrelivant because of the numericaly superior enemy.
As I understand it if the enemy kills the HQ unit(me)im all done.

As I understand it if the enemy kills the HQ unit(me)im all done. This is not true, they may just gain additional intel from the turn and of course, some bragging rights.

Heavy fighting continues. Rebels have broken through in the north and are being engaged by the previously out of place companies that now are in a perfect position to counter the rebel break through.
Rebels destroyed a BRDM-1 and a machine gun unit in the north and I lost a BMP-R in the south to tank fire.
We actually have advanced abit in the mayor's office area toward our objective there, though there are still alot of rebels around there,as well as the two T-54A's supporting.
My HQ was also killed. :salute:

Skirmisher
07 Jan 05, 18:00
Things are going pretty bad. I'm not even sure if the Rebels have lost an entire formation yet.
I'm envious they have those two rusty T-54A's rumbling around.

We lost more men and two BMP-R's (Dont think we will be buying any more of those).
I am holding the area near the mayor's office and north and south of it,but I fear being envoloped by the northern rebel push and I realy dont have any idea what's to the south because all my scouts were killed in the area. So it could even be a double envelopment in theory.

The "rescue" force of two infantry companies is making top speed to the northern part of town but they wont get there until near the end of the game.
I have only one BMP-R,two BRDM-2's and one MTLB remaining for fighting vehicles.

Ok more loses to report,a BRDM-2 ,some mortars, more troops.

Enemy is coming down from the northern part of town now.

We continue to hold the ground due east of the mayors office.

Skirmisher
10 Jan 05, 21:32
Our approaching two companies is starting to brush aside some rebel squads scouting north east of the town and draw closer to the town themselves.
We are starting to lose the battle of the southern town area, the rebel has a good concentration of squads there as well as a t-54A to back them up.
The rebels in the north of town have moved closer to my position east of the mayors office. I'm fighting them with the limited forces I have there.

Skirmisher
11 Jan 05, 20:04
Our hold on the area to the east of the mayor's office is beginning to break down, most of the pro gov troops there are running for it.
I dont think its possible to gain control of the office at this point.I tried but it was all in vain as the enemy has more combat power. The only ray of hope is the advancing companies which are literally throwing the light rebel resistance building against them out of the way.
Maybe when they get to the town area we can open a can of whoopass on them.

Double Deuce
13 Jan 05, 00:44
Can you have it finished by the end of next week, say January 21?

Skirmisher
13 Jan 05, 00:48
Yes thats seems reasonable as long as the rebel player continues to send me turns at his current rate. The turns are going fast.

Hmm, maybe not . The rebel hasnt sent the next turn out yet.

Skirmisher
14 Jan 05, 20:02
The town is lost now, every troop we have in it is running for it with a couple exceptions.
At least maybe they will escape to fight another day.
Our two combined compaines are attacking in the northern town area.We have good elevated terrain and are engaging the rebels in a firefight there. They are supported by the remaining functional vehicles and a mmg unit.
We are concentrated so we can actually force our will upon the rebels there, much like they are doing to us in the south.

Skirmisher
16 Jan 05, 16:17
The Rebel force is ripping through the town headed east(several of my squads were eliminated, shot in the back as they ran).
My attack force coming down from the north have begun to meet tougher resistance from the rebels. We destroyed a 2nd 61mm mortar and a rebel squad.

Skirmisher
17 Jan 05, 19:44
Ok this one is in the books ,we managed to destroy another Rebel Squad before the game ended but thats it.

I didnt really destroy much Rebel equipment. They on the other hand destroyed alot of our equipment.

Overall My setup kinda reeked :o ,got all of our heavy Mortars destroyed.

Quite disastrous, I would say. Maybe we should negotiate - either with the rebels, or with the UN.

03 Feb 05, 12:19
Couldnt agree with you more on that, but its not over yet.
Sometimes things just dont work out as expected.
We are still here. You probbaly should have remained fighting in the town but no matter. We will get them.
