As we're all going to be on the same side in this I guess we can discuss some buying strategies. Based on the assumption that the date will be Oct '42 what will be the best armour picks for Allies & Axis? Dozens of Stuarts/PzIIIJs or something a bit more subtle? Options are rather limited but what combination gives the best bang/buck ratio? :hmmm:

Good question. I myself like the big guns. I'll be swanning about in German equipment and am curious about just how many Stuarts one could be facing. Their rarity would be low in comparison to the Pz IVF2/Gs and one could swamped by a blizzard of high velocity 37mm shells. The Mk IVs armour is a touch thin, but that gun,...delicious.
Of course,...the Sherman will be a bit pricy at this time and I wonder just how much pounding they will be able to take before a 50mm from a Pz IIIJ finds the mark. :horse:
I would suggest you load up a few QBs and do some dry runs concerning purchasing.

So, we get to choose our preferred side to play as do we?
I'm a German armour freak - big guns are nice because you don't get punished so easily if you make an error, I'm not so good with the IIIs and IVs but I do like StuGs - low profile, large gun, cheap to use.

No we don't get to choose, however I se from the official joust page: http://www.667.hab.dsl.pipex.com/Wargaming/CM/2004-Armoured-Joust-CMAK/2004-Armoured-Joust-CMAK-Team-Listing.html

I have had to slip the start date of the Joust by a week until Saturday 4th Dec. :(
The 3 Blitz teams are not full, and in fact will have to reduce to 2. I am endeavouring to fill the remaining 5 slots. Due to a comms problem the Band Of Brothers have still to confirm their team/teams and are currently working on this. I want a clear week between all the teams being filled and confirmed, and the start of the Joust.
The Joust map and other details will be confirmed during this week.
Assuming there is no negative feedback about CMAK Patch 1.03 the Joust will be conducted at that version.
Cheers

Here are some costs for various tanks available in 10/42, please note, these are "individual" values. When purchased as platoons, the subordinate tanks are about 10 - 15% cheaper.
Allied:
Stuart I, II or III - 85
Valentine VIII - 69
Churchill IV - 129
Crusader III - 81
M3 Lee - 112
M3 Grant - 182
Sherman II (early) - 176
Sherman III (early) - 137
German:
PzKw IIIJ (late) - 125
PzKw IIIL - 137
PzKw IVF2 - 218
PzKw IVG (early) - 171
PzKw IVG - 258
PzKw VIE (early) - 516
StuG IIIF (late?) - 312
Marder III(r) - 96
Marder IIIH - 150
So, gentlemen, have your staff break out their adding machine and have them crunch some numbers for 3000 or 5000 point battles. If "Panther 76" rules are in effect our allied player could expect to see Tigers. At this point in history they cost 1806 pts for a platoon of four,...two platoons plus a platoon of Pz IIIs would give your opponent only 12 tanks. However, lest one panic, for the same 5000 poinsts the allied player could field 81 Valentine VIIIs (57mm gun), 183 points for a troop of three tanks.

Attention to orders,....
Gentlemen,....gentlemen,....your attention, please.
Thank you,... <ahem>,...
It would appear Monsieur Le Vulture shall be making the 'draw' for the battles this weekend, 27 November, to be precise. If you have not already done so, you may wish to play around abit with the numbers so that you have a good idea what armour you will take into battle.
The balloon will being going up soon and it promises to be a great show!!

Okay guys, a further update for you. After chewing at length on the subject, I have decided to change the Joust map, and use the one designed by The Purist. I have added a couple of extra flags, that's all, otherwise it is unaltered. Hopefuly it will be uploaded tonight. I can confirm that the Joust will be set in Oct 1942. Only vehicles available then can be used. (So no Tigers or Stugs for the Axis boys).
I have already worked out a draw for 8 teams and circulated it around the existing 8 team captains, however both the Band of Brothers and the Blitz are on the verge of being able to field an extra team apiece, so I will delay formally publishing the draw until after the weekend. A competition of 10 teams (120 players) would make it the biggest I have ever organised, and largest one I have seen todate, so I'm willing to hang on a little while longer.
The proposed start date of 4th Dec still looks good at the moment.
Strength and honour.

Greetings fellow WHQ'ers,
I was noticing that we are shy one or two reserve players for the upcoming joust. Mephisto has dropped out, urgent business in his home county. I would imagine some vassal or another is making trouble while he is preparing for our great Crusade.
I will ask Norad to fill the open spot in our ranks and advise Vulture of the change once it is confirmed. However, I think it would be wise to have one or two other loyal minions available to fill the ranks should some stalwart fall.
I have contacted KG_Panther to see if he wants on board. He was the only member that did not make it on the list do to the size of the team being set at 12. If he declines I will join unless another member wants a shot.
Members get 1st dibs.

A password,...what a wonderful idea. I first thought about "Cherrybums". For those not in the know it was Lord Cardigan's name for his 11 Hussars,...they and the 17th Lancers made up the "Light Brigade" that went off to fight the Russian during the Crimean War.
I am rather puzzled at the stop for Backlava,...desert before battle??? All rather puzzling, ...but I digress.
"Cheerybums", being a fine name, might seem a bit long. Also, I had the thought that if someone 'not in the know', as they say, saw you typing this into your computer, they might think you were some sort of pornagrapher,...or at the very least, naughty.
That being said,...it is a grand name.
Kindof a repost from the first thread re: this "armoured joust"... I hadn't seen that you'd moved discussion to this thread so please disregard the post there. This is amended to take into account the discussion you've had since 17th November.
Have you guys given any thought to a formal brief-in or other preparation, such as weapons choices, tactics advice etc?
I'm just asking because if you go for september 1942 with an all-armour force then some weapons systems and tactics will be relegated to the scrapheap of futility.
I won't go into details here since there's no point simply gifting your opponents with potential insight :hush: but suffice it to say that the constrained purchase parameters for an armoured joust change the tactical parameters so much that the technical-tactical vehicle parameters which CM uses to "cost" vehicles no longer reflects their actual battlefield utility.
Anyways, I was just a bit curious as to whether or not a brief-in or team-wide purchase/tactical doctrine was being discussed and formulated.

29 Nov 04, 12:12
Hello Fionn,
Well,....I'm approaching this whole thing as a way to have fun and try out my first all armour PbEM game. Above I posted the costs of various vehicles for 10/42 (Oct). The choices are many and varied and I don't think the costs have changed much betwixt v1.01 and 1.03.
My main thought is that if either side goes out for an OoB of only the best equipment they will have precious few tanks available. As mentioned previously, a Tiger platoon (4 tanks) costs 1806 points, while a troop (3 tanks) of Valentine VIIIs cost a mere 183 points. the question for the allied player in this case would be,...does he think 82 tanks with 57mm guns could take down 8 tigers and a few supporting Mk IIIs? interesting question,...the joust will answer the question.
This is why I have suggested that all team members play around with the numbers and come up with a force that makes them happy. It is not for me to suggest tactics as I am by no means an expert and, besides, the enemy force will greatly determine the tactics we use. Hull down, Shoot and Scoot, charge in close so your guns are more effective, smoke shells,...very tricky business until you know what you are shooting at.
The first thing we all need to do is remember this is just a game and that we are doing this for fun,...and bragging rights. Have fun.
The Purist,
You can count me in as an alternate however I will give up my space to any willing member who wishes to come aboard. Speaking of which Fionn seems pretty interested...??
Also I think Fionn has something here. If any one knows the technical piece of CMAK really well we should put together a private emailing on the "best vehicles" to use in a pure armored joust for the date range both axis and allied.
I had sent vulture a list of our teams emails a while back. I will see if I have that and will forward it to you later after I get off work sometime. Also any password should given via email as well since this IS a public forum!
Purist,
Aye, of course it is all about having fun but, still, there are many benefits to discussing the best equipment and tactics options irrespective of the opponent's equipment. I always found that having a bit of tactical verve was more than half of the fun u know?
Anyways, I intended no implication of criticism of anyone in my question. I was just interested on seeing what people's thoughts were and, if my input was wanted, possibly contributing to said discussion.
NORAD,
One minor caveat. I would caution that the question of the "best vehicle" for each side is inextricable from the question of the tactical approach you will use. E.g. Marder III(r) can achieve excellent results but only in a couple of severely limited roles.
As I see it, for example, the German and Allied vehicle choices allow each side to adopt only 3 to 4 vehicle/tactical combinations. As such prediction and appropriate preparation becomes feasible with a definite possibility for a team-wide purchase which, with mild variation in tactics, could deal with any conceivable enemy force/tactics combination.
Of course that's just my opinion but I've played quite a few PBEMs and quite a few armour-only PBEMs and I've seen how limited the force combinations are and how they limit tactics. Anyways, I'll butt out now unless I'm asked to contribute again.
I hope you guys have fun. I always found armour-only games a refreshing change, although I always preferred recon-rules armour-only games as they really zipped along.
Yes...fun is the key thing. I appreciate everyones insights on the match. It will be my first armor only match and I know I would like to see as much discussion as possible!
Purist...I am sure you will lead us well...in victory or defeat I am sure the WHQ bunch will have a grand outing!

Fionn,
First, no offense taken at all by me on anything said. My post was not meant to stifle debate or close the discussion. My apologies.
Two,...hang about, it seems like you have some experience in this and your input is much desired. In fact, I would not mind recruiting you as an alternate (at the very least) as we have no spares in our roster if a player needs to drop out.
Your right about the Marder III(r), its good in an ambush role but not much use in a running battle, nor does it carry much ammunition. Likewise, Stuarts are very swift and their gun can kill anything short of a Tiger up close or from the flank, but they are very fragile. This does not mean that there is no place in an OoB for either but tactics must be adjusted for their use.
Personally, I would love to try the 82 Valentine VIIIs,...thats almost two regiments on the field and the 57mm is nothing to sneeze at. Oh, Gawd,....and I am playing the Germans.
Uh, how were we supposed to figure this is the thread for the tournament? I thought the whole thing is dead or delayed.
Hi, Fionn, BTW.
Will rarity be turned on or off for the selection?
Do I figure right that each players gets to choose his own equipment and the discussion here is only for recommendations (i.e. we don't choose one selection for everybody)?
[Sorry to spam this thread but I think it's better to keep one suggestion in each message.]
I don't think October 1942 for an armor-only fight when buying your own forces is going to work.
The reason is that the British have a lot of tanks with guns with no HE and few or no MGs. They are incredibly cheap because of their low value against infantry but have full anti-armor capability.
The British force will come in with a 1.5:1 advantage at least.
And it gets worse when rarity is in effect, because the long-gun Pz IIIs, pretty much your own option against the British infantry tanks, have rarity penality in that timeframe. If you turn rarity off then the German player just clicks on the Tiger until done, there is not much else making sense.
This is a very uneven month. If we are going to use it, we would have to define our own prices (only based on factors that apply to a pure armor fight).
Hi Martin, good to see a familiar face around here. Drop me a line privately to catch up if you want.
I see you haven't lost your coup d'oeuil for parameteric imbalance  You are correct, of course...
Rarity plus October '42 plus the Germans = a losing proposition under most circumstances... I do think that it isn't a foregone conclusion even then (with some anticipation of one's opponents purchases, smart counter-purchasing and quick footwork on the field) but it certainly would be tough.
I suggest though that rather than spewing all of these things out publicly where any of the other competitors can take a gander for free these thoughts might be developed privately with Purist and the others involved? :devious:
P.s. Purist, is it possible to post the map file to the forum since you made it? The map is another variable to consider and any discussion would necessitate everyone involved having seen the map.

I will see about moving the map over from the tournament site, or you can download it from Vultures link on page 1 of this thread, although I am not sure if he has finished modifying it to his taste yet. Just so you all know, the map has been altered from its original form by Vulture (fine with me) so I can't take full credit (or blame :D ).
So far as I know, I do not think the Tournament Master is altering the rarity of the vehicles. The point differences do stand out a bit when you do a straight comparison of values, ie Pz IIIJ and Valentine VIII. However, I thought the rarity values were there to help offset the fact the Germans were less likely to have large numbers of their (generally) superior tanks on the battlefield. Allied numbers versus German technology.
I will drop a note to Don Maddox, perhaps he can set us up a thread with a password. This could be sent to the team members and we can post our thoughts there.

Due to circumstance beyond the control of the Tourney Master, the start date for the CMAK joust has been delayed to Dec 7.
Also,...Vulture tells me that he wiil probably disallow the Tiger and StuG IIIs due to historical factors. I am a German player and really don't mind,...they are both prohibitively expensive and I think my points would be better spent on other equipment.
Cheers.

Got the e-mail, Purist. Thanks much.
Hello all, I've been too absent from this forum of late. I've spent the past few hours perusing the Web info on the CCT. I'll be checking out the map tonight, messing with various combos of British armor (or should I say armour) and posting whatever I can think of.
Yohajin
I'm on the Allied (British) team. Anyone on the Axis team interested in scrapping TCP/IP with me before the tourney begins? It might help us sort out the map, force composition, tactics, and so on. I'm fairly available so if anyone is interested, let me know at cwilson2@nycap.rr.com and we'll start a dialogue. Given that it's a 20-turn armor game, it shouldn't take terribly long.
I don't think it'd be good form to post the game results on the ladder. However, we should share insights with the team once we finish up and commiserate about the outcome.

We just use the base prices without the optional percentage raise.
That means StuGs are dirt cheap but that doesn't matter since you are forced to buy Tigers in Oct 42 :)

Are Tigers/StuGs available in 10/42 with 'rarity' turned off? I believe Vulture was having a problem with this earlier today.
Well I have tried several times to get Tigers and Stugs available in Oct 1942, I just tried again with rarity off, force type unrestricted and all regions combined but it's still the same assortment of PzIIIs & PzIVs, Marders, captured Valentines, etc. What am I doing differently?

I have not yet load the 1.03 patch, so, any date changes for availablity have not taken effect. That's the best reason I can think of.
I have not either. You could be on to something. I was going to download it tonight.

Umm.. I have and I think you'll find it doesn't make any difference..
Well, this is damned peculiar. Only last night I looked at the German purchasing screen and could have sworn the StuG IIIF (late) and Mk VIE (early) were on the list.
I believe the parameters were
Pure Armour,
Mechanized,
No rarity
Oct 1942
blah, blah, blah.
Now I'm not sure :hmmm:
Doctor Sinister
03 Dec 04, 14:58
I've not seen them either - the only difference was that my settings were "Armour" as opposed to "Pure Armour" (I believe the tourney rule required the former setting - which was odd..).
Anywaty, I have the patch, but it's not installed yet - the rules still state version 1.01 is required, is this definitely changing to 1.03?

Gentlemen,
The email addresses for all your opponents are posted at the joust web site. Please touch base with your opponents some time today.
Practice your mantras. Massage your katra. Align you ying with your yang. Tighten your belly bands.
Above all else,... positive waves, every one, positive waves. Do not only think positively but act positively. Victory is ours.
I will be monitoring your thought processes from Dr Sinister's secret base in the desert.

Guys the following E-Mail will be sent out tonight to all (120) participating players
Gentlemen (and lady)
I am pleased to announce the start of the 2004 CMAK Armoured (Team) Joust. Can I remind you to:
1. Re-read the tournament rules which are at Version 1.1
2. Look on the Game Progress Page to see which battle your fighting in:
http://www.667.hab.dsl.pipex.com/Wargaming/CM/2004-Armoured-Joust-CMAK/2004-Armoured-Joust-CMAK-Game-Progress.html
3. Agree with your opponent what size battle you are going to fight (I would urge you all to fight using the 5,000 point option, as I am sure this provides for a better game).
4. The Axis player sets the game up.
5. Use the password set by your team captain. (Important)
6. Advise me when you send your first file to your opponent, using the reporting format as explained in Para 20 of the rules. (This is important as well)
7. If you do send me any correspond please aways include your Nickname and use my vulture.cm@dsl.pipex.com address.
This is the largest tournament I have ever run and to help keep admin to manageable levels I need to involved the team captains to a greater extent than I have done in the previous Jousts.
If you are having difficulties with your game i.e. your opponent has gone missing for example, contact his team Captain in the first instance cc to your own.
That all for now, start your engines and get those tanks movingggggggggggggggggg !!!!!!!!!!!!!
May the best team win !!!
Remember................. What we do in life, echoes in eternity...........

Gentlemen,
These words belong to Winston Churchill.
"Let us learn our lessons.
Never, never, never believe any war will be smooth and easy...
Always remember, however sure you are that you can easily win,
that there would not be a war if the other man did not think he also had a chance."
"No one can guarantee success in war, but only deserve it."
"You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word: Victory - victory at all costs,
victory in spite of all terror,
victory, however long and hard the road may be; without victory, there is no survival."
The hour has arrived. Mount up, move out. Good luck.

Fellow WHQ CM'ers,
Battle has been joined, The Light Brigade has rolled out of their vehicle hides and are deploying to meet the enemy formations in the desert. While we cannot predict the outcome of battle with any certainty but the brigade is well trained and equipped to the specifications of the unit commanders.
It's all up to the mathematics and tactics now.
As battles are concluded we shall encourage the unit commanders to de-brief the rest you here at WHQ.
I am sure that you would all join me in wishing our brave all-volunteer force good luck and a successful fight.

I am happy to report that I've received communications from my Swedish opponent and the game may begin soon. He prefers TCP/IP and I might just accomodate him on that. :D
At this point I'd like to thank:
VULTURE for organizing the tourney. My first. I look forward to many more. Thanks for your efforts.
MEPHISTO for being my friend for 20 years and turning me on to WHQ and 5th ACG. Sorry you couldn't participate. In the future we'll be teammates and kick some butt together. Every human opponent I play against thanks you for being crushed by me! :D
Or they thank you for giving them such a chump for an opponent.
PURIST for being team leader. Your efforts and support have helped make this, my first tourney experience, great. As much stress as I've felt over all this, it was greatly reduced by your constant oversight and attention. I hope I do as well if I am honored with such a position in the future.
DR. SINISTER for all your support and being a great troop leader. As my first "opponent I didn't know personally" you were a worthy and honorable foe, full of character, and without a doubt a very enjoyable personality to interact with--and I've only begun to explore your total body of work on WHQ and 5th ACG. You are a true leader whose efforts I will emulate.
FIONN for all your consulting work during the pre-tourney banter. Thanks for pointing out flaws in my ideas... someone had to do it and I hope that my own efforts, now and in the future, prove as insightful to others as yours were to me. If I am successful in this tournament you will have had a big part in that.
BIGMIK1 for being a great troopmate and squaring off against me in a practice game. It's not done yet but we'll both learn from it, and after our other stuff is done we should scrap on a QB... I love a good scrap with a true grognard.
NORAD for all of your support of my posting and being a true leader. May your enemies be worthy, yet stuggle and fail against your might.
And last but not least, to Mr. Milne, my fourth grade teacher, who spent a lot of time with me and turned me on to tabletop counter wargames in class. I got stomped as Carthage, but I wouldn't be doing this if that game hadn't taken place. You are a saint and I hope you are enjoying your retirement. It's likely that you are not on this forum but I offer my sincere thanks anyway. Your influence was too great to overlook.

:o
Gosh.
Erm, do you mean me? I don't think I've actually done anything...have I?
Dr. S.
:o
To be perfectly honest, I think all newbies to 5th ACG or WHQ should have the honor of playing you in CM or otherwise getting to know you. Your contributions to the community are fun and informative, and you provide a solid example as to how much fun it can be to invest oneself into the wargaming community in a creative fashion! :D
I, myself, have done so based on your creativity and Mephisto's incessant prodding. :p Any greatness or idiocy I express within the greater community flows partly from your tree! I'd be remiss if I didn't acknowledge that.
As my first opponent on 5th ACG you were fun to play with. I've had better games (meaning that our last game was a bit unequal, given that my plan was perfect for the map and I had a KV-1) but none of my opponents demanded such creativity in expression and communication with their words. I had fun playing against you, and even if I lost the game it would have been a fun experience. You showed me how one can express oneself and still fight a serious battle.
In addition, I offer my kudos for not giving up. I had achieved victory long before the game actually ended, but you didn't quit, and I value that. Having played Starcraft for a while I can tell you that the easiest way to win is to get your opponent to give up. It's worth more points and takes less time. You refused to give up, and since you were willing to fight on, we both received the points we were due at the end of the game.
I'd be happy to play against you again, in the future, using CMBO, CMBB, or CMAK with any rules you'd like to use restricting armor, arty, whatever. What fun it could be!
Yohajin
One omission I must include...
To IronMikeUSMC of 5th ACG. Your leadership made my transition from recruit to "member" in 5th ACG as smooth as could be. You answered my many questions admirably, faithfully, and honorably! I offer to you my thanks.
Yohajin
Thank YOU for participating! It is great when our members are both active players and vocal on the forums. It makes this a more interesting place to visit! :D
I mentioned Mr. Milne in a previous post, exhalting him as my first true wargaming experience. Please allow me to reiterate...
Mr. Milne was my fourth grade teacher. He read "The Hobbit" to us and was both a very strict disciplinarian and an open-minded individual. More importantly, we played some counter-and-map wargame one day when we had time during class. I was both too young to be an effective opponent and unschooled in the arts of war, yet he took the time to play with me. I guess he noticed my voracious appetite for books about WWII and did something about it.
I had no idea what to expect, but I will never forget the experience. This took place more than 20 years ago but his influence reigns over me to this day, and I'd be a fool if I didn't mention that. I hope each of you has enjoyed such an experience.

Wow - what a great guy.
I regret that nothing like this ever happened to me, which may explain my desire to conquer and/or destroy the world.

I am a teensy bit annoyed with the target calculations in CMAK at the moment. In a game with Yohajin I had a Marder III (Veteran) open fire at the flank of a Stuart in the open from 630 yards.
I watched throughout the turn as 4 shots in about 45 seconds missed the Stuart. What's worse, the Stuart finally reacts after the third shot and begins to traverse its turret. It fires a shot a split second after my fourth round and the 37mm shell strikes home and knocks out the (very) hull down Marder. At the 55 second mark, the Stuart fires again, this time setting the Marder ablaze.
This just seems very wrong to me. :(
Yohajin,...congratulate that crew!!
It does actually seem to be that way.
You get a complete surprise flank shot on an enemy tank and all your shots miss, then with one "quick" shot from them you're dead, hull down or not.
I have seen this numerous times- the clue (CODE) I think is watching to see if the target "reacts" right away to your shots.
If it does you will probably hit it (may not kill it though).
If it does not move it seems the AI will not "let" it get hit. And as you said the turret swings and with one fast shot your tank is destroyed.
It is not something that just happens rarely: it is a very programed event because crew experience does not seem to matter.
This is not the case that I have seen from frontal attempts which seems fairly "even" all things considered. First / second shot wins.
My continued frustration is with "one shot kills" returned from the target tank even if it is moving. You "hide" in tree cover and shoot (missing) and without a pause the target tank swings & fires, killing you just like that, many times before you can get off a second shot.
That Targeting Line the attacker gives off is just a tunnel leading right back to your tank, no matter where or how "off the cuff" the enemy shoots the shell follows that tunnel for an easy kill.
Now that erks me.
What you are both forgetting is that the Stuart has a much higher first round hit probability than the Marder which accounts for some of this...
OTOH there ARE some very real holes in the CM codebase which can, demonstrably and reproducibly allow moving, attacking tanks to get the first shot off against well-hidden defenders. It isn't realistic, its a problem in spotting routines and it hasn't been fixed since CMBB ( when I first noticed the problem when fighting an all-tank battle on an urban, foggy, night map).

Oh, I don't begrudge the first round hit of the Stuart (not really) its the 4 shots by a veteran crew at a non moving target, 'fat, dumb and stupid' as they say, sitting out in the open with zero cover. One miss, ok,...two misses, possible,...three misses, at that range, by veterans is a stretch,...four misses is not likely at all. If the gunner was THAT bad the crew would never had made veteran status.
Ah, well,...tis but a game. :smoke:

GAZ NZ has just reported a tactical victory for the Brigade. Well done GAZ!!
Our Kiwi hero took 36 Stuarts, 6 Churchills, 3 Grants, 4 Crusader IICS and 4 Priests into mortal combat against the vile and evil Narzee forces made up of 15 Marder III(r), 17 Pz IIIN and 14 Pz IVG.
While our South Seas Champion suffered some losses (families may check notices at their local town office or rail station) the battlefield was strewn with the wreckage of the German forces. German survivors were to be seen fleeing the destruction of their panzer unit. They showed obvious signs of shock from the carnage loosed upon them,...many prisoners taken.

Our Yohajin, fighting tooth and nail to the bitter end has brought in a draw in the CMAK Joust. Using 2 Stuarts, 10 Crusader III, 3 Valentine IX and 15 Churchills our courageous hero stopped the enemy assault cold and made the evil narzee neer-do-wells pay a stiff price. Axis yearning for the nile Delta were yanked away from them and the will have to be happy with the rocky desert that is their current home.
The Light Brigade is now 4-1-2 with 13 points
Congrates to Yohajin once more. :salute:

Onwards to victory! :horse:
I just got an e-mail from my opponent. His OoB was
4 Marder III(r)
25 Pz IV
1 unspecified light tank, possibly a panzerjager I
One platoon of Pz IVs was veteran but everything else was regular.
In the end the computer awarded the two main flags to him, which disappoints me because I had the only working tank left in the area as well as many crews in both stands of palms. Either way, if I had been awarded the flag points, it would have been a draw in my favor.
The last two turns were extremely thrilling and even though the outcome was not as much to my liking, Fox was more than a worthy opponent. I learned more about CM armor combat during the course of the tourney than I can believe.

I held all the flags. My flanking maneuver worked. It was very close for one of the main flags in the middle but I managed to knock out his forward tanks enabling me to claim ownership! My opponent played a good game but hesitated too long in bringing significant pressure on the victory locations. I salute him for continuing on in the face of significant "Real Life" adversity. :salute:
Kommander Norad let out a sigh, sending his runner to fetch him a fresh cup of coffee and his radio, letting a small smile creep up the corner of his mouth.
"Sir, your coffee." Ah...now for that call to Rommel's HQ.

Is that us all finished now then?
Only, I'm waiting on about half of the battle reports... :)
Dr. S.
I will send a more detailed battle report with a couple of screen shots of my glorious victory when I can.
Patience good doctor. :)

Yahoooooo!!!!!
Erm,...excuse. Allow me to extend our heart felt congratulations to our Trooper Norad. A battle well fought and a victory well deserved. This victory in fact was of strategic importance as it has dealt a solid blow to the front runners of the 'Bondage Band-aid Brothers' :hmmm: ,... the 'Bandstand Bugle Boys :hmmm: ,...hmmm,...oh, there it is,...the 'Band of Brothers' Team 2( silly name, that).
One game left.
The Light Brigade stands with a record of 6-2-3 with 18 points.
Ruhalooooo!!! :horse:
So are all the games complete? :hmmm:

Waiting to hear from Fionn/Geordie on what the final outcome was.
I fear I come back on my shield.
61 to 39 in favour of Geordie. He played a good game and his Grants were the testbeds for Chobham ;).
I think Fionn already told us, although perhaps not reported officially?

Oops,...missed that post. Thanks Boff. I'll submit the report.
Erm,...61/39. Is that a minor defeat?

I have the sad duty to report the final results from the battlefield. Fionn,...our philosophical statics guru was defeated on the field of battle. His battered remains were recovered from the wreckage of his dead charger. We are saddened by the loss and wish his spirit a swift journey to halls of his fore fathers.
The final stats for the Light Brigade are:
6 wins, 3 losses, 3 draws for a total of 18 points.
Where we place in the overall standings is not yet known but I will post the results here for all to see once the information is made known.
One last chapter to write and the first 'battle honour' can be stitched on to our guidon (battle flag).

Ruhaloo indeed!
As an aside, I am awaiting battle reports from NORAD, Artur, Fionn, Redwolf, BigMik1, JVS Fugitive and Osvold.
Dr. S.
Thus far Vulture's web site shows:
53 games completed. (15 Axis victories, 25 Allied victories and 12 draws)
I think this was a pretty fairly balanced QB IMHO! :halo:

Well, Doc,....I have tried. Lord knows I have tried. I have tried and tried and tried. I do not know what is so difficult in putting down a few words and sending them to you in a PM. They also need only send you the final file from the game for a few pics.
Is Redwolf still around? How about BigMik1?
Norad? Can you answer our good Doctor S? :devious:
JVS was not to be heard of after the start in December,...I found out about his game through his opponent.
Osvold sent us his last game file but no words to go with it. I doubt we will see any at this late date.
We may have to do some creative writing or simply leave their contributions as 'incomplete'.
I just thank Gawd for hot chocolate and Bailey's,...and 20 year old port,...and brandy,...
I am busy but I will get to it sooner or later. :) I think it would be GREAT if the others would do it too but I can't exactly twist their collective arm since it was never a requirement of the Tourney. I will do it for my battle though.
Also as a side note, since this was an "Official" WHQ event and a team effort I will be rewarding a set amount of points to us all for participating! These will be distributed on the ladder shortly. Hopefully by Wednesday night.

I am still around, but as of now have no time to make a full battle report. I will try to get the good Doc something in a few weeks. It's just not high on the list right now. I am in the ROW V tourny over at BFC and they want AARs for the battles also, so Doc you will get it.

Hmmm...this can't be right I too appear to have been awarded some bonus points. :o
I must say that I do not feel worthy of the honour - you will be aware that I had to pull out of my game due to technical problems - I don't think I've earned the right, whereas the other members of the Brigade certainly have.
Dr. S.
I have given bonus points for the Joust.
The Purist our fearless leader received 45 pts
every one else received 35 pts.
Thanks for all of your great participation and for really making this tournament come alive. I appreciate everyones efforts!

Poppycock!!! Why,...the Brigade would be nothing,...a mere mention as a footnote without the exceptional staff work.
You deserve every point.

Hmm, teacakes and medals for sitting back at HQ typing whilst you brave lads were sweating it out in the desert trying not to get your heads blown off by flying shards of metal?
OK, I accept.
