I just saw the teaser video for Red Orchestra v3.1 and was wondering if anyone around here play this mod?

I played in the previous release, but got side tracked with other titles for a while.

I am considering putting a server up for it, but am trying to gage interest for the mod before I go through the trouble.

Any thoughts?

I installed it and practiced a little in single-player.

Much better than your cannonical commercial FPS.

I lost my game installations due to two Maxtor 160 GB taking a dump around the same time, though :( I'll probably be up and running on the weekend.

OUCH! Sorry to hear about the drive crash!

Your post reminded me to mention that the mod is primarily multiplayer. Single play is available, but the bots are rather stupid in single play and some animations don't work properly in the single play portion. I'm not sure if this has been addressed in the upcoming 3.1 update or not.

I know, singleuser is just for training.

However, RO is very different from normal FPSes as you move at realistic speeds, have to take cover (doh!) and carry almost realistic weapon and ammo loads, so you really need that training :)

We should probably organize some WFHQ/AG Red Orchestra play on a private server so that we stay clear of the Quake kids.

yeah, i played a bit of RO3. Ditto to what Redwolf stated about realistic gameplay! IMHO I found the maps a bit boring, hopefully, more options will be available. Also, the vehicles take a full crew (or can take a full crew of 3?) and that sounds like it really requires teamwork to make the machine function!

Also, the built-in voicecomm program never worked for most folks which is a real pain!!

I reinstalled windows recently and have't gotten around to reinstalling Unreal Tournament 2004 and RO. Thanks for the update about RO3.1

There is now an entire site dedicated to user made RO maps: http://www.hl2stats.org/nuke/index.php This may help the boredom of running through the same maps over and over again. Also, I know that there will be some new ones in this next release.

If I do indeed gain enough feedback in my forums (see link in my sig), I will put up a server. Due to the team play required and the fact that this mod is geared more toward the tactically inclined player, I would like to try and get a decent player base committed to playing on the server before I set up the hardware and software for it. If your interested, please register your intent and interest in my message boards.

Thanks in advance for your time!
