View Full Version : Suggestions?
I got a few bucks to burn, and I'd like to get another PzC game. I have Rzhev, Kursk, Sicily, and Alamein. I like Kursk and Rzhev, I'm so-so on Alamein, and I don't care for Sicily. Suggestions on a new one to get?

I kind of like Korsun '44. It has a wide ariety of battles.
I like this one. It is a very fluid battle for a line type of battle. It has a good selection of stock scenarios that play very well and have a fair balance, it also has several large user made scenarios for it.
If you do not like fluid battles Bulge 44 is a bit more restricted. Lots of forest & mud, you gotta stick to the roads more.
I like the fluid battles more. Kharkov & Korsun both sound good. Maybe I ought to flip a coin now! :cheeky:

If you like the more fluid battles then don't rule out the Modern Campaigns either. Even if you've not previously been a fan of modern wargames you might want to consider these.
Could you give me your thoughts on what you do not like about these? I have both but have not had the chance to really dig into them.
Smolensk 41. Large maps, alot of moving areas for the Panzers. Definitely worth it.

To me S41 is a MUST have for those who like Panzer Campaign series.
;)
Yes Smolensk is a good buy. A good number of scenarios both stock and add ons, very fluid and a great map.

I've got all but the middle east one of the MC series, though I've only played Fulda Gap enough to form an opinion. I love Fulda Gap! I've played a little of NGP, and I like it so far. My real interest lies in WWII though. Even though Kursk starts out as a siege battle, it can turn fluid with a well placed breakthrough.

Sicily:
The terrain hampers movement. At the beginning of the campaign, movement on the paved roads and beaches is about it. I find Sicily boring b/c a lot of the time you can only move one or two hexes.
I know that Kursk is like that too, but I just really enjoyed the 120 turn CG. Took forever and a day though. Sicily's CG is 351 turns, but there's a lot less unit density. The HG division is qualitatively superior to just about anything the allies have, so you gotta watch out for them. I'd give Sicily 3 out of 10 for a rating.
El Alamein:
Very fluid, but I find the desert kind of boring to play. I like to have a little terrain to work with. That aside, the supply problems in this game make you think about your every move. I do like that aspect of the game. 5 out of 10 for El Alamein.
Thanks for your synopsis. I like how the PzC series manages to get a different 'feel' in each title that really seems to capture the atmosphere of the battle.
After all the input, I've decided on Smolensk '41. Thanks!
