View Full Version : An Open Apology to the ATF Community

This apology has in no way been directed or coerced in any way by anyone but my own desire to clear my own mind.

There have been a number of issues between myself and kbluck here in the forums. I am apologizing to the ATF community for airing my personal feelings about someone publicly. It is childish and serves no purpose but to feed my own anger.

I also apologize directly to kbluck for airing my anger with him here in a forum which should focus solely on improving the ATF experience for the players, and NOT for me to air any problems I have with anyone.

I have a difficult time with being "politically correct" or trying to spare someone's feelings when I feel they have attacked me, my family, my friends, or my work. I take all of these things seriously because I put 110% effort into everything I do, and I sincerely believe the ATF community can understand this. I also know that I CAN control what I do or don't write here, and that others can fight their own battles, if they wish, without my intervention.

I will not apologize for my convictions, beliefs, wit, humor, or lack thereof, because that is truly who I am, and people can either like it or not. I tend to believe that I am more than what I write, but that much of who I am can be found in the way I present myself here.

I'm opinionated, abrasive, and I have what some people have told me is a stinging wit. Those that know me personally have differing opinions, those that don't often find me a bit overbearing. So be it.

In closing, I reiterate my apology to all for being a less-than-stellar steward of the ATF game series, and I make a solemn promise to keep my replies and other communication to the task(s) at hand, and to vent my frustrations and/or anger in other venues.

Thanks for your attention and have a great week!

Curt

A few months ago I foolishly attempted to mediate between you and Kbluck, big mistake!

After feeling I’d just survived the back blast from a AT-5 I kept my own council and sat on the sidelines.

You are self opinionated, abrasive and at times a right pain in the arse.

BUT, I’ve learned more from you and Kbluck about the inner aspects of Modern War and how best to implement them in ATF than any other forum, magazine or book. Any question, no matter how basic is always answered and I’ve never once seen you put someone down for their lack of knowledge.

So for me your open apology is unnecessary, please stick with the forum, it would be a sad day if you left.

I'm not going anywhere, XRay - If I was I probably wouldn't be apologizing to everyone! ;)

Also congrats on getting rid of that avatar expressing you are proud to have been banned on another forum and I think you had an offensive signature, too. That really didn't go well with some of your messages :)

I think all these changes are positive and will help build the ATF community. The reason I was drawn to BCT first, then ATF, was largely that I liked the sense of community in the postings and the civility with which everyone was treated, especially by the developer. So as a civilian with zero military background I wasn't made to feel like a fool for asking questions obvious to others with a military background.

I'd like to see ATF become the number one military simulation and am doing what I can in that regard. I think it can ultimately win out over the alternatives since no other simulation handles time or maps as realistically as ATF.

And having a strong community with mutual respect, that helps newcomers and all members comfortably express their opinions can only help. :p
