Let's start at the very beginning and work our way through the theatre.

I'd prefer to start from Rommels arrival in North Africa. I think it would give better continuity and lead to more closely fought battles.

Well then let me say, "Lets start when Rommel arrives in North Africa"
Looks like the early voting is for an "early" start in the AK tourney.

I cannot believe that people would turn down the opportunity to turn history on its head and WIN battles with the Italians.
I'm dashed!
Just think of the possibilities!! Why,...why, your victories may be responsible for the creation of a new Roman Empire that leads the Mediterranean world into a new bright future.
Cast your votes for 1940 and keep the Germans "Out of Africa".
This message brought to you by the Anglo-Italian Cooperative League for the Exclusion of Foreign Exploitation of Africa. Also known as the AICLEFEA
I love it!!

The AK crowd already sounds like a fun bunch!
:D
We had a few Italian in North Africa battles in the RoW4 tourney.
Overall not so good fun because of featurefree terrain (they are farther east than the nicer areas) and I really don't like to play these two- or one-man turret tanks which BFC modeled to not hit anything ever. 10 shots missed around point-black.
In general I think symmetric battles work much better in CM (as in most wargames), and they should include feature that emphasize what CM, which is rich LOS and fully capable vehicles. Everytime BFC tries to model somebody or something handicapped they go overboard.

True, I played the last one in the tourney and it was great. It was German vs British and it was a nail biter. It seems the RoW4 is over.

Surely, gentlemen, there is more to the pre-German phase in north Africa than Sidi Barrani and Beda Fomm. There are set piece battles at places such Bardia or pursuit battles along the coast road to Benghazi. There was also a full blooded infantry campaign in Italian East-Africa.
There is plenty of action to be had long before those fancy-pants Wagnerian bum boys in their thigh length black shiny boots carrying varnished riding crops arrive and spoil the fun.

"That's no way to talk about the American army "
Ewwwwwww
You're gonna burn in hell for that one FM!!!
Ewwwwww :toast:
I still got to warn you that (just IMHO of course), CM doesn't really play well with troops that are both low-quality and low-firepower, and CM doesn't play well with tanks where BFC tried to model very slow speed and bad visibility.

Ok,... to be serious for a moment.
I am not suggesting that the tournament be based soley on the early part of the war in Africa (1940-41) but rather I am stumping for the initial battle to include the Italians. For example:
Round 1: Bardia or Italian East Africa (Jan-May 41)
Round 2: Rommel's Initial Advance (April-May 1941) or Air Assault on Crete (May 41)
[note: can Italy be modelled as Greec in '41, is the Greek army available?]
Round 3: Gazala (May-Jun 42) or Alamein (Jul- Sep 42)
Round 4: Operation Torch/Tunisia (Nov 42 to May 43) [maybe Lonstop Hill; Dec 1942]
Round 5: Sicily (Jul-Aug 1943)
Round 6+: The Italian Campaign (Sep-Nov 43)[Salerno would be interesting]
Look out NORAD, you have an eager bunch here!
