Where can I find a summary of all the unit icons that have special inherent qualities? I've deduced several and looked in the help document, but I bought my COW game as a jewel case CD without a manual and have not been able to find a complete list.

The place to look would be the manual. :OHNO:
From memory:
Parachute units have the air transport and helicopter transport abilities.
Airmobile units have only the helicopter transport ability
Special forces have the air transport and helicopter transport abilities, and disengagement bonuses.
Guerrilla units have disengagement bonuses.
Artillery, rocket, and missile have ranged fire abilities
Motorised infantry and artillery pay double cost for off road movement
HQ and supply units provide supply bonuses. (25%? each)
Engineer units facilitate digging in.
Ski units pay less movement costs in frozen and snow hexes
Mountain units are able to cross major escarpments & alpine hexes and pay less in crossing minor escarpemnt and forests (?)
Riverine units can travel through flooded marsh and major rivers.
Armored trains and rail artillery can only travel in rail lines and have rail movement points.

Thank you
I searched the help files that came on my game CD and searched the web but have not been able to find a comprehensive list. You have been a big help. I was resorting to making units with each icon in a test scenario just to see what came up.
A couple of others are:
*Amphibious and amphibious armour units (but, anoyingly, not marines) are able to cross shallow water hexes and deep rivers
*Only air units with one of the naval aviation icons can operate from carriers (though this may be decided on the basis of the planes in the units rather then the icon per-se)

Amphibious units doesnt pay the penalty (0,70%) of attacking from a sea hex into an land hex..If my memory serve me right.
In the attached files below, you'll find pages 70 and 71 from the manual with the Unit type symbol key. Sorry for the quality of the scanning, I made it in a hurry at work.
P.S. before anyone asks : no, I didn't scan the whole manual ;)
