View Full Version : Operation Anaconda
Here it is... based on as much digital elevation and declassified material as I could get my paws on!
Sidenote update- Scott took a look at the map and corrected the errors in the TEC entries. He emailed it back to me so here it is.
Let me know how this one works and thanks for your patients!
Enjoy.

HI Tiberius, which symbol set did you use?
Hey Tiberius. You may want to check your map again. It does not seem to be working properly. They files associated with the map do not seem to be the same as the other maps. You try and load the map and you get a message that it does not have a TEC file associated with the map.
I need to see first if anyone else gets the same error, it doesn't seem like it but we'll see.

This is from Don's symbol set.

I get this error:

I have no problem opening it with ADC and selecting Don's symbol set though.
Yea, that's the wierd thing, I get no error under ADC or my copy of POA2... I think I am going to pull this map until either I know what's causing the error in POA2 or maybe Don can take a look at it...
Thanks guys.
If you look at the other map files created by Don's set, there is an .ecx file which I believes is the file that links the terrain set to the map. There is also a .cai. You have an .acx and an .aex files in your. Since I don't own ADC2, I don't know the creating process. But it looks like your did not save the files in the right format.
I hope that this helps you figure out what is going on. I was able to get the map to load by manually (but not perfectually) and it looks to be a neat map. I hope you can get it figured out.
Indeed you are correct, the TEC links are ficed now but see my post on the main forum board... I think I am going to tweak it a little now.... heh heh...
is this a playable scenario? i'm reading a fantastic book on operation anaconda and this would be perfect to help me understand the operation better. seems there's no scenario file though, just map stuff....?

Right now it's a map only... but I can change that if you're interested in seeing a scenario come form it. Just say so and I'll see what I can whip up.
oh hell yes, i'd love to see a scenario based on that.
check out "Not a Good Day to Die" by Sean Naylor.
an in depth account of the battle. fantastic book.
let me know if i can help. i'm not very good, but
i'd do what i can.
If you have any specifics on Allied OOB that would really help... I searched around on the net awhile back but couldn't find enough solid info that seemed reliable. I will check out the book though.
How does this map work? - Any issues with it? (bugs?).
Does it require Don's symbols? (the symbol add-on he put out to make the game designs easier).
I found no errors or bugs with the map itself in terms of playability/functionality but it does req. Don's symbol set. I released it more as a "tell me what you think"" kinda map looking for improvement.
tws71669 - Thanks for the map - More of these type would definitely be needed for POA2 to get any following -
I was always planning to make a scenario based on the SEALs raid at Patilla airfield during the Panama invasion - (though POA2 has never got fully operational (working) to go about making this scenario).
