Here is the new ranking system for the multiplayer of CoD: UO
_________________________________________

Rank- Special abilities

Private - None

Rifleman - Additional grenades and pistol ammo

Squad Leader - Scouting Binoculars. Squad leaders can use binoculars, which are useful for scouting over long distances, spotting approacing attacks and monitoring combat from afar.

Section Sergeant - Satchel Charges. Section Sergeants spawn in the game with satchel charges already in their weapons inventory. Lower ranked players can still use satchel charges, but they must be picked up from the map.

Platoon Sergeant - Artillery strike. Platoon Sergeants can now use the binoculars they acquired at randk 3 to call in a deadly artillery strike anywhere on the map.

I got everything from the manual. So far, each rank requires 10 more points. If your score is >10 you get Private rank. >20 is Rifleman, and so on. I have no proof of this, it is just what I have observed.

The rankings are cumulative (you keep the abilities of previous ranks as you move up), and I think it works pretty well. What do you guys think about the new system? If you don't have the game yet, share your opinions too!

The ranking system is pretty darn cool. I was playing a game of HQ and four of us had arty strikes at the ready. We all called the strikes at the same time and targeted the same area... talk about impressive.

The ammo load-outs seem to be more realistic now, too. I actually ran out of ammo during a running fire fight in Bocage and had to scrounge for the weapons of dead soldiers. The UO expansion is good, good stuff.

All these features are (poorly) copied from Enemy Territory, there you have 5 classes (FieldOps, Medic, Soldier, Covert Ops, Engineer), an XP system that allows you to level up (gaining new abilities) and objective oriented maps. Beats CoD UO easily! Try it and you'll never go back. Oh, by the way, Enemy Territory is a FREE standalone game! You can download it from various sites all over the net, do a search or try the obvious ones such as fileplanet.

Try it, try it now :)
